After changing battery, car doesn't start. Emergency lights flash, electricity works, but can't stop the lights from flashing. I'm not sure why the engine won't start. I had to disconnect the battery to stop the emergency lights. If you have any ideas, that would be great! I would love to avoid the shop. Thanks

sounds like u might want to take that one to a local dealer - there are many problems with volvo electronics - and I took one like urs - to the junk yard after volvo experts could not trace it down - sound crazy eh ?

well - last chance - take down the vin -- call the local dealer and ask about recalls or service bulletins

Not sure if this will work, but try this:
Open your car from the driverside door, if the alarm starts flashing, go to the passengerside door and use the key to unlock it. That should reset your factory alarm. GL

2005 Dodge durango V8 has red lights flashing in dash and headlights flashing, can it be an issue with the alarm which is not used but somehow became enabled!!!
You need to connect the battery. Lock and unlock the car with the remote. That will cause the ani-theft to stop flashing the lights. It does, however, stop after 3 minutes. That is, until you disturb the vehicle again. Then it starts the 3 minutes again. You need to get the remote out, and lock the doors and unlock the doors. Done.

There are separate flashers for directional and emergency lights so they might not flash at the same rate.

I just changed the starter, disconnected battery
Under dash by your left knee is a 4"x4" box. It has a small wire lead with a button on the end. Turn ignition on and push button. Resets the alarm. THis will stop your lights from flashing. Have a great day.

Hazard lights flashing
I have a 97 subaru outback and encountered the same problem. It is a security device on all newer subaru's. After changing or charging the battery, leave the negetive battery cable disconnected. Turn the key to the "on" position, then reconnect the negative terminal. This will stop the flashing.
