Hi,
Either on the "dryer" which is the bottle shaped item usually next to the radiator or firewall or on the largest diameter a/c hose, not the smaller diameter. You will feel this hose get cold if you are on the right one. I'm guessing you have a standard recharge kit from Wal-Mart, AutoZone, etc. which consists of a pressure gauge, screw on tap, valve, hose with attached fitting if yours differs let me know before proceeding otherwise, first attach hose to the low pressure charging port on the refrigerant line. This will be on the larger tube usually near or on the accumulator. The silver aluminum cylinder with several wire connections and 2 black plastic covers which will be your quick connect connections the smaller diameter one will be your low pressure side. Be sure to wear gloves and eye protection!!!

hi, Got your message but there is so much under the hood I am confused. Your right I have 134a kit from auto zone. The car has valve with a black cap coming off a silver line to the left of the radiator, its too big for the kit connection. There is a little green cap coming off a plastic hose in the middle of the firewall this is too small for the kit valve and it has a tag that says evap service port 1 psi maximum regulated pressure only. Then infront of battery on the right hand side there is another silver line with a black cap which looks like the kit may fit on it?
Hi, found line and attached kit hose gage on kit fluctuates between 25 to 55 psi as I hear compressor ,I guess click on and off.does this mean compressor shot? thanks
On a 1998 contour the ac is not cold I purchased a kit from auto zone finally found the proper valve to connect to started car up turned ac on max and connected kit with gauge to the valve. The gauge needle fluctuated from 25psi( borderline charge needed ) to 55 psi as I heard the compressor click what I guess was off and on. any advice greatly appreciated
