Peugeot 405 1994 series 2 Curtesy lights not coming on when doors are opened.

You used the ignition key to turn the red button and now neither inside or outside will open the door? It is broken, you need an auto locksmith to jimmi the door and fix whatever has come adrift inside the door panel.

weak batteries
cars came new with 2 fobs good, both fail.?
never have just one, they wear out too. and fast.!
or even worse button switches inside shorted. omg pain.
that is just one cause, of many, scan the OBD2 port PCM for errors yet?

Thats a new one on me ,i work on a lot of these cars and never had this fault before but the one thing that comes to mind is the rubber boot from the read hatch to the bodywork ,in this pipe are a lot of wires and i suspect that some of them are damaged so when you open a door the interior light comes on ,and this feed is shorting across to the wiper motor ,i could be wrong and no doubt i am but this is where i would look first

This is likely caused by a defective door ajar switch, it is located on the inside of the door attached to the door latch assembly

Check your light switch as this controls the dome and the courtesy floor lites. Could be bad also check that the wires are only connected where they should be and not grounding out on the frame of the car, as this could be causing a short.

I would suggest changing the fuse anyway....sometimes they look good, but are faulty. Had the same problem with my vehicle....oh and check your brake lights...i drove around for 3 days and nights with no brake lights.....

The switch located in the door jam or the latch assy itself is failing.
