I have about 2 and a half gallons in the tank and the filteris full of fuel but it is not pumping. Is my luck that bad I bought a second one that did't work or am I doing something wrong? Comments:Aug 21, 2009 - Ok. I couldn't get it to work so I took it to the shop. They reinstalled it and it worked. But the vehicle still sputters. So It now has a new fuel pump, New fuel filter and the sputtering is so bad it dies and wont work for awhile. I actually think it might be getting vapor locked or something. But I dont know. It will do it when you stop and start going again. Sometimes if you feather the gas lightly it will go but if you floor it *** will just die. When it spuuters the worst and dies it jerks the whole car really bad. Also I change the thermostat and the car will read very high. Not in the red but will go down again but fluctuates quite a bit. While standing idling more that driving but while driving as well. So what do you recommend?

What is ECU?
Fluctuating coolant temperature is a symptom of air in the system which could have been introduced when you replaced the thermostat. Have you checked the coolant level? I think the fuel pump should be pressure tested. I've seen new ones with faulty brushes whcih cause the pump to underperform and operate intermittently. Charlie
Is it with the ECU? If it is not, Take off the carburator and clean all the fuel and air ports. If it remains the same check the hightensions if they are cutted internal, clean the distributor cap or check the distributor timing. anyproblem reply.
