The starter wouldn't have anything to do with it being stuck in park . And the electronic's on your vehicle are complex . You obliviously have no clue what happens when to turn the key to start the vehicle . The ignition switch is a low voltage input to the BCM - body control module . When the BCM see's this input it sends a message on the serial data network to the PCM/ECM - engine computer that start has been requested . The PCM/ECM then will energize the starter relay if it see's a voltage signal from the transmission internal mode switch that the vehicle is in park or neutral , an nothing is wrong with the anti-theft system . Your best bet , have it towed to a qualified repair shop before you make thing's worse . People like you crack me up , trying to fix your own vehicle an you have no clue how they work . An your vehicle does have a shift inter - lock system . Won't let it shift from park without your foot pushing the brake pedal . All vehicles have them .

Circuit Description (LE5, LZ4, LY7)
When the ignition switch is placed in the Start position, a discrete signal is supplied to the body control module (BCM) notifying it that the ignition is in the Start position. The BCM then sends a message to the engine control module (ECM) notifying it that CRANK has been requested. The ECM verifies that the transmission is in Park or Neutral. If it is, the ECM then supplies 12 volts to the control circuit of the STARTER relay. When this occurs, battery positive voltage is supplied through the switch side of the STARTER relay to the S terminal of the starter solenoid.

Hooking up a professional scan tool an doing a full vehicle scan of all the control modules on the vehicle should be the first step in the diagnostic procedure .

Automatic Transmission Shift Lock Control Description and Operation
The automatic transmission shift lock control system is a safety device that prevents an inadvertent shift out of PARK when the engine is running. The driver must press the brake pedal before moving the shift lever out of the PARK position. The system consists of the following components:
• The automatic transmission shift lock solenoid (serviced as the automatic transmission shift lock actuator), as well as the body control module (BCM) and the engine control module (ECM). The shift lock solenoid is located within the floor shift control assembly with vehicles equipped with floor shift.
• The body control module (BCM) controls the voltage supply circuit of the shift lock control solenoid. The following conditions must be before the BCM will supply voltage to the shift lock control solenoid.
The BCM controls the voltage to the shift lock control solenoid through the shift lock control solenoid controlled voltage circuit. The following conditions must be met before the BCM will supply voltage to the shift lock solenoid:
• The ignition is in the ON position.
• The engine control module (ECM) sends an input via GMLAN serial data to the BCM indicating the transmission is in the PARK position.
• The BCM determines the brake pedal is applied according the brake pedal position.
Since the shift lock control solenoid is permanently grounded, the BCM supplies voltage to the automatic transmission shift lock control solenoid, mechanically unlocking the shift lever allowing the driver to move the shift lever out of the PARK position as the solenoid energizes. When the brake pedal is not applied, the BCM turns the control voltage output of the shift lock control solenoid OFF, de-energizing the shift lock control solenoid. The de-energized solenoid mechanically locks the shift lever in the PARK position.
During remote start operation, the BCM will de-energize the shift lock control circuit, locking the shift lever in the PARK position.
An there is no override .

May be a bad brake interlock switch. If the switch is bad, it doesnt know you are pressing the brake, so wont start and wont shift out of park. Sometimes it's a different switch from the brake lights.

make sure to check your fuses and ground wires first. when you are set on which part is bad do a quick check of everything else before you jump into it.

SOURCE: How to unlock Saturn gas door?

There is no other release for the door. The key fob is all there is. GM has a bulliten on the issue and your dealer will have to fix it. The bulliten number is PIT4436. Give the dealer this number and they can look it up and repair it. Good Luck

Hey my 2008 Saturn vue won't start hear a Singal click from relay when turning to start position battery is good stated is new ecu is new and randomly it will start work for a day then not start again any...

If starter won't crank the engine when problem is ongoing? Make sure battery has a full charge and connections all good. Jump the starter relay, pull the relay, use jumper wire on switch side of relay, left side in diagram, cavities for terminal 30 and 87. The starter motor should crank the engine, that starter fuse is hot all the time. If you try the jumper, make sure transmission is in park or neutral and parking brake is set. Vehicle can't move. If you have key in on position, where dash lights come on, when you use the jumper, depending on the problem, the vehicle may start and run. By using the jumper you are bypassing the control side of relaY. right side in diagram. There are several components involved on the control side of relay, ignition switch--bcm--ecm--neutral switch. You need to have it diagnosed properly. Have you tried cranking in neutral instead of park, when problem is ongoing?

My 2008 saturn vue does not start even jumping the battery. What should I do?

First off , before checking battery cable connections an such , what happens when you turn the key on ? Just on , not trying to start it . Does the instrument cluster light up with all the warning lights - check engine , ABS , air bags , security light etc.... Turn on the head lamps ,do they light up ,are they bright ? The starting system on that vehicle is very complex - more involved then connections -battery - starter etc...

2008 Saturn vue won't turn over. Replaced starter but still nothing. Checked battery and everything else is working properly just won't do nothing when u turn key but click.

bad batteries can charge up to twelver volts. Monitor voltage while crankung if it drops to or below 8 volts you do have a bad battery. It could be a solenoid switch although that starter should have come with a new one. Baterry terminals can corrode to the point that that they will not cobduct. Also ignition switch could have broken..
Last but perhaps the first thing to check is a coolant leak... A cylander full of antifreeze coolant will prevent the engine from turning over.
The new starter we put on a friends car did turn the engine over bending a rod and breaking a piston. Had we know a cylander was full of water we could have done head gaskets instead he spent four thousand dollars on a full overhaul.

The key to my 2008 Saturn Vue is stuck in the ignition. It's stuck at ACC. There's no power to the car at all. What do I do?

I have a 2008 Saturn VUE. I had the problem where my key would not turn to off and I wouldn't be able to take it out of the ignition it was also on ACC. So even though I had power in my car it might be the same problem you have. I just kind of hit the shift up when it was in park. This should unlock the key. You should hear a click and after that you should be able to turn it all the way off and take the key out.
