1988 LeBaron. Intermittent brake failure.

Does the pedal sometimes go to the floor, with no stopping power? That is a sign of a bad brake master cylinder whose internal seals have failed, so no hydraulic power when brakes are pressed. Need to have it checked. It will only get worse until brakes fail completely.
Be sure and check the brake fluid level in the fluid reservoir. If low, check for leaks under the car. System is sealed, so no fluid should need periodically added.

1991 chevy caprice brake problem

You probably need to replace your brake pads. They are what queezes your tires to get them to stop. If your brake pads are old, they can be worn down over time and become less effective at gripping the wheels to stop them. You press your foot all the way to the floor, but the pads are too thin to create enough resistance to push back.

"spongey" brakes. brake pad

Check the reservoir for fluid. If it empty, look around the wheels to see if you have any wetness on the backside. If you don't see a problem here, the booster pump may be bad.

I have a 2001 Chevy Prism. My brakes have been squeeking a little bit and not catching until I almost hit the floor. I looked at the brake pads that are on there now, and they look fine. What else could it...

The brake pads need to be replaced asap. The squeal comes from a wire imbedded into the pad so that when you start hearing it, it indicates pad are worn out. New pad will bring the pedal bac up to its normal position. The back brakes are probably OK, but they should be checked as well for wear and leaks.

Brakes suddenly go to the floor in my 1998 Cabrio automatic. Is it the brake booster? Brake lines? did I lose a pad?

Chances are that you have a leak somewhere. You need to get under there and look. If there aren't any leaks then likely the brake master cylinder is internally bypassing (fluid going around the internal seals) and needs to be replaced. Check the fluid level in the master first....If it's low, look for leaks, beginning at the rear of the master where it attaches to the booster and working your way down through the system from there.

1998 bravada brake problem

If you have not replaced any brake lines or brake calipers, then It sounds like that the brake proportioning valve or the brake master cylinder if defective. If the the brake pedal goes to the floor, the master cylinder is at fault. If not, the proportion valve, which is part of the ABS valve body is defective. Have your local garage check these two components for possible problems.
