Question about 1991 Ford Explorer

I need to know what bushings go in the back side of the lower conrtol arm if u r looking at the front of the truck its the last bushings on both sides of the lower control arm its got a fron and a back to it

Just ask the parst store for the lower control arm bushings.

if you only replace one side,you will not be able to correct tow,do both sides,upper and lower and tie rod ends and all bushings,ebay has kits

Where are the bushings for the low control arm on 1996 chevy tahoe 4wd located


If you are replaceing both sides (drivers & passangers (recomended)) you will need 4 bushes in total 2 front susp rear & 2 front susp front. There is 2 bushes both sides (front of front & rear of front) The lower control arms go from the chassis to the lower ball joints (just behind tyres at bottom) will be a big job!

2006 Dodge Charger front end rattle and noise. I have replaced both ball joints and lower conrtol arms which had loose ball joints. Still have a suspension front end rattle but the steering is tight...


Look at the brakwe strut arms that connect to the lower control arms and the cross member below tghe radiator. Also if it happens while making turns left or right into a driveway (knocking type noise , look at the sealed wheel bearings. I had this ande water waqs getting into the bearing through the dust cap

What r problems to be on the look out for on a 1999 chevy malibu with the 3100 v6 in it and there is a rattle when i hit bumps or rough road the struts are fine


Broken stabalizer links, broken stabilizer bar, and worn out stabilizer bar bushings are fairly common. As well as the rear bushings on the front lower control arms. A quick inspection of the front end and you should be able to tell if the links are bad, bar is broken, or the lower control arm bushings are separated. If the rear bushings on the front lower control arms are seperated the lower control arm will look like it is resting on the subframe.

Steering is loose, lots of play in steering wheel


you need to do what i call a dry check i do before performing an alignment have someone sit in truck and shift steering wheel from side to side lightly while you look at steering components check for loose pitman arm,drag link if used inner tie rods outer tie rods or excessive play in steering box then jack up each front wheel and check upper and lower ball joints

The rods that connect the K-member (subframe) to the lower control arms are called "strut rods". Your local auto parts store should carry the bushings.

Need to know how to replace lower control arm


LOWER CONTROL ARM

REMOVAL
1) Raise and support vehicle. 3) Remove the steering knuckle.
Remove the bolts fastening the power steering cooler to the front suspension cradle crossmember reinforcement (Fig. 21). 5) Remove the lower control arm rear bushing retainer bolts located on each side of each lower control arm rear bushing. NOTE: The bolts fastening the cradle crossmember reinforcement are of three different thread sizes. Note the location of the various sizes.

6) Remove the bolts attaching the cradle crossmember reinforcement to the front suspension cradle crossmember (Fig. 22). Remove the 2 bolts fastening the reinforcement and rear of cradle crossmember to the body of the vehicle. Remove the reinforcement. 7) Remove the pivot bolt attaching the front bushing of the lower control arm to the front suspension cradle crossmember. 8) Remove the lower control arm.

Lower Control Arm Bushing replacement


Hi,
I just did this job on my 98 regal, and I own the service manuals also. The lower control arm bushing that usually goes, is the front one. The rear one doesn't usually go, it is horizontally mounted. The front one for some reason is vertical. The control arm must be removed, and put in a vise. The front bushings outer metal sleeve, must be driven out with a chisel. It comes out easily. The new bushing can be tapped in with a hammer. Hope this helps!
