93 mk viii, car runs if fuel poured into air intake. Fuel pump??

Check for fuel at the carb fuel inlet if it has fuel lightly tap on the fuel fitting to unstick the needle from the seat. If I remember right there's a booster pump under he left side of the truck check to see if it's running and pumping fuel.

There is a fuel shut off switch (inertia fuel shut off-opens on impact) in the wiring between the fuel pump relay (in the under-hood fuse/relay box) and the gas tank. It may have opened. I don't know where it is located, it may be behind a kick panel under the dash. You may have to ask someone where it is.

The fuel pump fuse is a 20amp fuse, also in the engine compartment fuse/relay box. This fuse and it's wire is the power feed for the fuel pump relay.

it probably needs fuel pump and fuel filter (if equipped). pump is in tank. sometimes the back seat pops out and you can access the cover to pump.

look in the passenger side kick panel theres a relay there! and also under the driver seat! but if you are still having this problem its probably gona be a replace of fuelpump and relay inside the fuel tank

CAUTION Fuel injection systems remain under pressure, even after the engine has been turned OFF. The fuel system pressure must be relieved before disconnecting any fuel lines. Failure to do so may result in fire and/or personal injury.

1. If equipped with air suspension, the air suspension switch, located on a side panel of the trunk compartment, must be turned to the OFF position before raising the vehicle.
   
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
   
3. Relieve fuel system pressure using the recommended procedure.
   
4. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
   
5. Remove the fuel tank from the vehicle and place on a suitable work bench.
   
6. Remove any dirt that has accumulated around the fuel pump retaining flange so it will not enter the tank during pump removal and installation.
   
7. On 1988–94 models, turn the fuel pump locking ring counterclockwise and remove the locking ring.
   
8. On 1995–00 models, remove the retaining bolts around the perimeter of the fuel pump module.
   
9. Remove the fuel pump/sending unit assembly. Remove and discard the seal ring.
   

To install:

1. Clean the fuel pump mounting flange, fuel tank mounting surface and seal ring groove.
   
2. Apply a light coating of grease on a new seal ring to hold it in place during assembly and install it in the seal ring groove.
   
3. Install the fuel pump/sending unit assembly carefully to ensure the filter is not damaged. Make sure the locating keys are in the keyways and the seal ring remains in the groove.
   
4. Hold the pump assembly in place and install the locking ring finger-tight. Make sure all the locking tabs are under the tank lock ring tabs.
   
5. Rotate the locking ring clockwise until the ring is against the stops.
   
6. Install the fuel tank into the vehicle.
   
7. Lower the vehicle.
   
8. If equipped with air suspension, turn the air suspension switch to the ON position.
   
9. Add a minimum of 10 gallons of fuel to the tank and check for leaks.
   
10. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
    
11. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position several times to pressurize the fuel system. Check for fuel leaks and correct as necessary.
    
12. Start the engine and check for leaks.
    
13. Road test the vehicle and check for proper operation.

Yes...check the pump, filter and output. Also check the ballast resistor for the pump. Stop pouring fuel into the cylinder...instead, use carb cleaner and spray into throttle body (excess fuel in one cyl will contaminate your engine oil). If it runs normally after you get it started likely the pump is good (unless you have problems at high rpm's under power) Regulator is likely good as well...default is to more fuel not less.

The fuel pump is a submerged type located inside the gas tank. You need to drop the tank to get to it since it goes in thru the top. Major undertaking, The fuel FILTER is located behind the cowling on the passenger side front wheel well. Better get a shop/Chilton manual if you plan on doing it yourself or you can pick up the fuel pump at Auto Zone and they can give you the step by step instructions to getting the job done with common tools. Don't worry, there is only about 100 things that can keep the EFI system from working properly. Try this 1st: My '91 4runner wont run properly, or at all, when the Air cleaner / intake assembly is not hooked up / installed, it needs the MAS air flow sensor to measure the incomming air or it will not run. Then, Are you getting positive pressure of fuel to to the engine from the tank yet or is the pump just running? Thread a pressure gauge to the fuel rail on the engine & check pressure with key on / engine off (should be between 35-45 psi) Check / replace the fuel filter & try disconnecting the fuel & return lines lines @ both the tank & Throttle body & blowing out with 25-50 psi air to ensure the line is clear. You may need to vacuume test the fuel pressure regulator on the fuel rail. If you are still having problems, it can be the injector(s), the fuel pump relay or any of the sensors in the EFI system including the VSV sensor, which measures the fuel pressure & relays the info to the ECM (computer). To check & test all of the sensors it will be worth the $20-30 Haynes or Chilton Manual. start with the easy stuff though, then work up to the sensors & electronics
