The remote does nothing to the car. It does not unlock or activate the car. I removed the immobiliser and now the car is just swinging but no firing. I believe that the fuel is still blocked. How do I overcome the immobiliser problem or the fuel line problem. THanks
Re: The remote does nothing to the car. It does not...
First try replacing the battery in the remote. if that does not work you will probally have to bring to dealer to have alarm either bypassed or replaced.

Often, you need to press the unlock button on the remote twice. First press unlocks the door and second press disables the immobiliser and allows the vehicle to start. The key alone will not start the vehicle.
Alternatively, when the key is in the ignition - press the remote unlock again.
The remote acts as an immobiliser device. The reason your car won't start on the key is probably because the system won't allow any key in the ignition - it is preventing theft of the vehicle. Once the unlock button on the remote is pressed the system then recognises that key is the legitimate one for the vehicle and the disables the immobiliser and allows you to start the car
run the fault codes to find if the cam/crank position sensors are operational. Check to see if the cam shaft/s is turning ( broken timing belt). Check operation of the immobiliser
common issues are timing belt and immobiliser and lack of fuel pressure .
I would swing by the dealer or a shop.that sells.remotes if its not.in.your.owners manual then look for.a free repair manual download online and see what it says regarding this procedure. If all else fails go to the experts.
you need to reset the alarm/immobiliser system...put key in drivers door and unlock/hold key over, windows will go down, wait 30 secs.
then,lock/hold key over ,windows will go up,wait 30 secs then press/hold unlock button on remote to reset system.(if you have,nt got a remote, you will HAVE to buy one)and make sure you have newish batteries in remote.
you can buy a "superchip" for this car @volkstuning,goes like stink....
Your Immobiliser has activated the alarm, you must deactivate the immobiliser to deactivate the alarm. go into the car (even if siren is wailing and your neighbours are nosy) close the door and put key in the ignition, turn key to ACC position. Hold down unlock button till you see indicators flash once. Remove keys and get out of the vehicle. Try unlocking and locking. This should be reset.
HI,WHEN YOU REMOVE DOOR PANEL,AT DOOR LOCK YOU WILL SEE PLUG WITH RED ITEM PULL THIS AND IT WILL RELEASE PLUG, GIVE IT A CLEAN,AND TRY LOCKS AGAIN. ALSO IF YOU HAVE PROBS WITH CODED BUTTONS,THEY DO WEAR,JUST LOOK IN YOUR HANDBOOK,AND CHANGE CODE WITH FRESH BUTTONS.THANKS
de activate the immobiliser.easy to do on this car ,just done one with similar problems but hazards came on as well.or take car to dealer and get keycode /alarm immobiliser reset, its a lot less hassle
My car seems to have same problem. It's in the shop right now, as a matter of fact. First, they recommended the fuel pump be changed. Since that cost is so high, I asked that they replace the antenna ring in the ignition as a possible and cheaper hope of fixing it. Another mechanic from Volvo dealership in nearby county claimed this fixes the problem 98% of the time whenever he has these years in with these same problems. I've asked them to do so and am waiting to hear the results. I'll let you know then.
