SOURCE: Wiper arm

Lift the black cover located at the end of the wiper (at the cowl panel sort of hinges) use a 13mm socket to loosen the nut. pull the wiper up towards yourself WARNING spring loaded hold on to it!
Sort of wiggle it carfully off of the splined stud. I some times mark the wiper arm location on the window to make reinstall easier. Hope this helps

SOURCE: I HAVE A 1998 CHEVY LUMINA WHICH HAS THE WIPER

Im not positive cause i havent seen a 98 steering wheel but i know on the 92 you need to disable the horn and take the steering wheel off to get to the switch. I assume you have wires crossing. i would check it right away before you have a fire break out.

09 Silverado wipers come on for a short period then stop and only jerk a little when I hit a bump,

This was a common problem with 1988 to 1998 Chevy Silverado models. In 1999 the Silverado body style changed on the 1500 series but remained the same on the 2500 and 3500 series. The plastic cover on the wiper motor had major problems and most were under factory recall. Visit https://www.nhtsa.gov/recallsfirst to see if your truck is under recall. You will need your VIN number. It is on your title, on the drivers side at the bottom of the windshield ,or on the drivers door on a tag on the area where the latch is. If it is not being recalled you will need to check the vehicle when the wipers are not working. Raise the hood and look for the wiper motor. It will be on the firewall. Tap on the black plastic motor cover a few times with the handle of a screwdriver. If the wipers begin working after a few taps the cover is most likely faulty. The best part is that if that is the culprit it is fairly easy to change. Make sure you check for a recall first , we have literally replaced hundreds of these under full warranty. Hope this helps.

Have a 98 would crank and run for a second.the problem was security.the ignition switch housing and module was faulty and causing the anti theft to shut off the injectors. look at that and your headlamp fuses as well as anti theft is tied to headlamp fuse

Brake lights want work. relay is good and fuse is to. I also changed all the bulbs out.

There is a brake switch located just behind the brake pedal towards the top where the pedal curves it has a plunger sticking out of the front of a 2"x2" square with a plug running in the back, most just twist and pull out some use a clevis pin or bolt to retain. The switch is a very common item to wear out on the 1988-1998 chevy and gmc ck trucks

Wipers swipe in off position randomly

Known issue with circuit board mounted on wiper motor. Has glitch which causes phantom sweeps. suggest replacing circuit board.

Wipers only work on high.

It sounds like the switch went out. I have seen a lot of GM products have this same problem.

Wipers not working

First thing you could try is replacing the circuit board on your wiper motor. It's behind the black retangular box on your wiper motor. Not hard to change. A few screws and a plug in. Or- change the whole wiper motor. ( about $80 more than the board) Bolts can all be accessed by removing the cover at the bottom of your windshield. Pretty straight forward.
