Most likely the AC compressor has seized up and needs to be replaced. When the clutch engages the seized compressor slows the AC belt enough to apparently stall your car. If you open the hood just after this happens you'll probably be able to smell burning rubber from the belt. DON'T try engaging the AC with the hood open though as this belt is probably in bad shape by now and could break at any time which is dangerous.
The bad news is that this is an expensive repair. You'll need a new compressor, convert to R-134 refrigerant, etc. and it's porbably more than a 94 is worth unless it's in exceptionaly good overall condition.
Sorry the news isn't better.
Plugs and wires time ! Most likely, as when the engine takes that kind of load (it works much harder when ac is turned on) weak plugs and or wires wont keep the rig running. Imports like yours have a plethora of things that are interconnected... that or your AC condensor - compressor is bad- and when it engages on your engine, (one of the things the serpentine belt is connected to) it CANNOT turn on the inside, and since it is trying to turn your compressor-condensor at the same time as everything else, it just stalls out. If you can live without the ac, you can usually buy a belt that will be shorter for non-ac versions of your car, or it will have a seperate belt all on its own. the compressor-condensor is the peice with all the metal tubes and rubber tubes around it. This will also give you better mileage. Have a nice day!
