SOURCE: 1992 chevy lumina eurosport- not the same as a

ok i understand what you are saying now.

the euro sport is the same as the lumina base just with a body kit, stiffer suspension, and dual exhaust.

but on the 3.1 engine the pushrods are all the same length, but depending on the stroke each cylinder is on the pushrod may be in a different position.

you are assuming that every pushrod should be in the rest state. that is not true. if the cylinder you are installing the pushrod for is on the intake stroke when you install the intake valve pushrod and tighten the rocker arm nut the valve will procede to open like it should be open for the intake stroke.

this is normal and its nothing wrong with it.

SOURCE: my 89 chevy is making a knocking sound i just

Did you check the knock sensor located on the passenger side of the block, behind the starter, The sensor can be bad sending a signal to the Computer causing the computer to readjust the spark advanced timing causing Knocking and pinging....... or it could be as simple as bad gas. If you changed the timing chain, the gears should both be set with the the timing marks at 12 oclock for the 89 chevy K1500 5.7 350 V8 TBI OHV 16V if you set the timing at 12 oclock on the cam and 6 oclock for the valve and Distr. the number 6 is firing as number 1 you can recheck by bringing the No. 1 piston back up to TDC and check to see if your Distr. is pointing to the No. 1 Plug Hope this helps

Nissan hardbody 2.4 16v 2004 model have a ticking sound in cylinder head changed all the timing chains and guides. Please help I'm desperate

Hello Francois, the tapping sound you hear might be coming from a bad valve lifter, a bad camshaft lobe, a bent push rod, a broken valve spring, a broken rocker arm or the valves may need to be adjusted.

How to instal valv lifters

Pull intake off pull off valve covers, loosin rocker arm bolts and remove ,, pull push rods out, after you have the push rods out you can pull the lifters out,,,,,,i suggest taking to a mechanic shop,,, if all you have is a ticking sound try this,,, buy a can of chemtol spray,,,chemtol only,,, with the little red straw for spraying,,,remove valve cover,,try to see if you can hear which lift or lifts is ticking,,,turn off car,,,loosen not remove that rocker arm,,,slid to the side,,count your turns,,,move rocker to the side,,, take chemtol spray and insert little spray straw and spray it down the hole in the center of the push rod ,, it will clean the lifter of the debris that is not letting it prime up,, repeat if nessary,, it works,,, see YOU TUBE,,, dirty oil causes this,,, put in clean oil and some lucas oil treatment to help prevent in future,,, keep oil changed ,,if it starts ticking again change oil and add more lucas,,, it might fix itself

If ticking sound don't go away after flushing oil change is there a need to repair engine

Ticking sound is typical of slack in the valve train. Try using a wood dowell "stethescope" and touch it to the rocker arm cover over each cylinder. If a rocker arm adjustment is too slack, you'll hear a clicking sound rather than a muted murmur. If you find the noisy lifter you will need to remove the rocker arm cover and adjust it. CAUTION NOTE - It is possible that a hydraulic lifter may have some grit in the internal valve. That would stop the lifter from functioning properly.

Rocker arm come out on jeep chrysler 3.7 eng

A rocker arm is the arm that sits on top of the valve stem and connects to the push rods 'the push rods sit on the cam so when engine is running, the push rods go up and down in a timed sequence and with the rocker arms, open and close the inlet and exhaust valves. the rocker arm is located inside the valve(rocker)cover .If the rocker arm gets loose or comes out.
Check the nuts on the shaft which holds the rocker arms.either the shaft or nuts are got loose. They need to be tightened.Don't make it too tight or too loose.  Too tight, and they don't flutter right. Too loose, and they allow the rocker arms to wiggle out of whack. Other possibility can be  something is broken, bent, collapsed, or out of adjustment.
Thanks. you can rate this solution and show your appreciation.
