Could be the fuel pump, Chevy fuel pumps will die without warning. If the car has over a 100k miles then that's probably the culprit.
Most likely mass air flow sensor causing if got 3..8 car will crank not start or start and die when sensor fails try locating it unplug it see if conditions change
Buick and Pontiac have drive by wire in key lock cylinder.
Is there spark?
Easy way to tell if it is the key, is the security light on? If so, you should be able to leave the key in the ON position for 15 minutes or so and get the car to relearn the key. If not, I suggest making sure that there is sufficient fuel pressure at the fuel rail and make sure that the fuel injectors are metering.

exactly right, theres trash in the tank. keep changing or cleaning the filter and get the gas out of it. replace with good gas and pick up something at the auto to dry up the water in tank. auto guy should be able to help pick something. hope it helps

yep i seen it in happen .i was at a gas station a guy drove car to the gas station on empty.he fill his tank up .could not get it to crank .some cars you have to restart fuel pump when run out of gas. like chrysler.you use a scanner. but chervrolet you run low over heat damage the pump.it has to stay submerge gas to keep it cool. check fuel pump pressure.it should be 41 - 47 psi.

If you replaced the fuel pump then there is a possibility that during the job then some debris from the tank and/or filter got loose somewhere into the fuel system and is in your lines. It could even be a very tiny speck of gasket material, old or new.

Yes, I share your thought on this. I would check the relay.
