My clutch fan is not working at all....

Hi, yesterday as I was adjusting the gauge back lighting all of a sudden a bunch of buttons on on my dash lit up and my car starting running rough. Today i noticed my car was running a lot quieter so I popped the hood and noticed my fan clutch fan wasn't spinning at all. It moves freely and you can spin it with your hand but it doesn't work on its own even when I rev the engine. What possibly could the issue?

It does not run all the time. its thermostatically controlled. When your idling in traffic on a hot day you will hear it kick on and off. after a good drive leave it idling for a few minutes and you will likely see it come on. Not sure about the dash lights??

here is a link to your wiring diagram, the thermal transmitter may have a broken wire. the fan and gauge work independently but the source is the thermal transmitter

Why would my dashboard light only be dim on the far left side? I thought maybe if could be the alternator but the indicator light is not lit up on the dashboard.

check under the dash for loose ground wires (one screw/bolt attached to the frame of the dash with a bunch of brown or black wires going to it) loosen that up, then re-tighten.

Temp gauge creeps up

The computer is supposed to ground the fan relay when the engine temp reaches 220 degrees. If the coolant level is low, or the sensor is faulty, the computer will not know the engine needs the fan.
A mechanic would check the sensor with a scanner or meter.
Its also possible the gauge on the dash is not accurate.

{: ) I supposed you have checked the fuses at the IP fuseblock and tried adjusting the dimmer knobs back and forth. You can also try to check the cluster connector behind ( although not likely to be the cause). If the illuminations or backlighting works fine on other areas except the cluster, and gauges functions are fine, you will need to replace IPC (cluster) and program. Actually there is a GM bulletin for this kind of concern for the 2007 IPC poor backlighting. The IPC should be replaced with a 2008 hardware/software.

This can be a poor connection at the back of the cluster, pull it out and check all the connection points to make sure they are fully seated to the cluster.

Hi, airbag deployment rarely causing damage to the wiring in the dash. The gauge cluster may of been damaged internally, but this usually shows up right away after repairs are done. I would check the connector on the PCM it is a cam lock design and if its been damaged or not closed properly it can cause crazy things to happen to the gauges. Good luck.

It can be several things. Te simple one is that the connector behind the cluster is loose. The other is the circut board that makes up the cluster is going bad. Try disconnecting the cluster and re connecting. If this does not work, try replacing it with a sed one from a salvage yard or from ebay.

I have a 1997 Plymouth Neon. The car runs great. The lights all come on but the gauges suddenly stopped working. It was fine yesterday..could it be a fuse?

Try a couple of good thumps with fist above dash (don't laugh) where cluster gauges are, and see if it comes back on, or may when you hit a bump. I had a 95 that did it all the time until I fixed it. If a bump or thump gets it back on, let me know, I'll give you details on fixing.

The dash gauges not working

Check for bad solder joint on back of instrument cluster where the connector attaches to it. One or two of the pins are probably not properly soldered. Takes about 30 minutes to fix if it's like mine.
