I had the same problem on a 2008 Civic. It turns out it was a poor wiring harness design. The harness was being pinched as the trunk lid opens and closes. In the wire bundle, there is a crimp connector where 3 wires connects to 1 wire. The 1 wire in the crimp came loose. I reconnected everything with a new crimp connector, taped up the wire loom, and everything worked once again.

Sounds like the grounding wire from the trunk lid to the car may be loose. You are probably getting it to make contact when the lid opens and when you're moving it around. Look for a wire coming from the trunk lid to the car body , make sure there are no cuts or bare spots. And make sure that the ground wire (the one that should be grounded to complete the electrical circuit for the lights is securely connected. Check all the electrical connections ...follow the wiring from the lights back to where they connect... wiggle the connectors and check the lights ...

License plate light not working? No power going to license plate lights? It's on my 2000 Pontiac Bonneville! Please Help

Sounds like a plug came loose in the trunk. If you are unable to find the loose plug, power to your license plate lights can be easily re-routed from the tail lights if necessary, with no downside. Two wires, two butt connectors, and two tap splices are all you will need to accomplish the repair.

2007 tail light fuse location honda crv

I had this problem with my 2007 Honda CRV -- all the lights worked EXCEPT the tail/running lights and the license plate light. The other tail lights worked -- brake, reverse, indicators, and hazards. Front headlights also worked, but when the headlights went on the back tail lights did not (not to safe for driving at night!!)
The fuse was #15 in the interior fuse box (under the dash driver side) with the label "small exterior lights" ( also check fuse #19 labeled "small lights main"). The cause of my problem, I believe, is a bad or lose wire in my license plate light.

Back lights dont work

Hey i had about the same problem the tail light s on the trunk led and the license plate light wouldn't work, But when I opened up the trunk they came on. So I messed around with it and them. right where the black tube with wires inside leaves the trunk led and is hooked to the car frame I cut it open. Lord and behold a set of 3 wirs were hooked to a single wire and they had pulled apart. it's either the ground or poss. I spliced an extra inch of wire into the line and they all work fine now. guessing you have the same problem. the wire seemed like it was being pulled very tight. But not anymore. Hope this helps you
