Removal & Installation
Front Door Latch
1997-98 F-250HD, F-350 AND F-SUPER DUTY

Remove the door trim panel and watershield.
Disconnect the rods from the handle and lock cylinder, and from the remote control assembly.
Remove the latch assembly attaching screws and remove the latch from the door.
Installation is the reverse of removal.
F-150, F-250, EXPEDITION AND NAVIGATOR
The front door window glass must be completely up.
- Remove the door panel.
- Remove the watershield.
- Remove the rear glass channel bolt and position the glass channel aside.
- Disconnect the rods from the door latch.
- Unclip the locking clip.
- Remove and discard the door latch retaining screws.
- Position the latch aside.
- Detach the electrical connectors and remove the latch.
To install:
Install the front door latch screw in the small opening first, followed by the large opening.
- The installation is the reverse of the removal.
- If necessary, use Multi-Purpose Grease Spray F5AZ-19G209-AA or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESR-M1C159-A to lubricate the latches.
1999-00 F-SUPER DUTY MODELS
The window must be in full up position.
- Remove the front door trim panel.
- Remove the outside front door handle.
- Separate the push button rod from the front door latch.
- Remove the lock rod clips.
- Remove the latch retaining screws.
- Position the front door latch in the inside door access opening.
- Detach the electrical connector(s).
- Remove the front door latch cable cover.
- Remove the remote control cable case from the latch.
- Remove the remote control cable from the front door latch.
- Remove the front door latch.
- The installation is the reverse of the removal.

Inside Handle
1997-98 F-250HD, F-350 AND F-SUPER DUTY; 1999-00 F-SUPER DUTY MODELS
- Remove the retaining screw/nut and remove the handle.
- The installation is the reverse of the removal.
Outside Handle
1997-98 F-250HD, F-350 AND F-SUPER DUTY
- Remove the front door trim panel.
- Remove the front door watershield.
- Disconnect the actuating rods from the handle.
- Remove the one handle retaining nut and screw.
- Remove the handle from the door.
- The installation is the reverse of the removal.
1999-00 F-SUPER DUTY MODELS
- Remove the front door trim panel.
- Remove the cover from the side of the door and remove the nut.
- Remove the nut from inside the door.
- Pull the outside door handle out of the front door far enough to expose the attached door latch linkage.
- Disconnect the lock cylinder linkage rod from the outside door handle.
- Disconnect the release rod from the front door latch by prying open the clip and removing the latch release rod.
- Remove the outside door handle.
- The installation is the reverse of the removal.
Door Lock Cylinder
1999-00 F-SUPER DUTY MODELS
- Remove the front door trim panel.
- Remove the outside door handle.
- Remove the spring clip and remove the lock cylinder.
To install:
- The installation is the reverse of the removal.
Actuator Motor

Remove the door trim panel.
Disconnect the motor from the door latch.
Remove the motor and swivel bracket from the door by drilling out the pop rivet.
Disconnect the wiring harness.
Installation is the reverse of removal. Make sure that the pop rivet is tight.
EXCEPT 1997-98 F-250HD, F-350 AND F-SUPER DUTY
- Remove the door latch.
- Remove the door ajar switch.
- Pry up on lock actuator tab.
- Slide the door latch lock actuator off the latch channels using a prying action.
- Remove the door latch lock actuator.
- The installation is the reverse of the removal.
