I have a 2005 mustang v6 with 62800 on it and the engine light just came on today and I don't know why? All of the fluids are at level as well.
This is the check engine light, it is on to alert you to the fact that a fault has occurred in the engine electronic controls or the emission system, there are over 200 such poss faults, any time the check eng light is on a fault code is stored in the computers memory, have the system tested for that code and post it back here, many autozones do this for free, ask for an OBD 2 code test.
You may be looking at the engine light for the computer or if you have gauges check them. You could have low oil pressure or low voltage. You would have to determine this before going forward. Each problem has different test to find the cure.
Well light may be on for lot of isuses but start with most comen one did you just get gas if so make shere gas cap is tight iif loose then tight it it should go of in a day or so if you did not just get gas then go to your lockal part store and see if you can get them to get code out car tell you what it say then let me know
this could be gas cap but it is emission related any way you can go to most local part store to get the code then we can help you out

Ok, let's see if I can clarify this. My tank is sitting at about 1/2 of gas, all my fluids levels are good. Whe I turned on my car this morning, my engine light came on. (not the solid light, but just the outline of it) I only have 62,800 miles on it..so I would think that there would be no engine problems. I did drive it with the AC last night which is something I normally don't do cause I'd rather have the natural breeze, but it was so damn hot yesterday. Some also told me to check gas cap?
On my dash, it's just an orange outlined engine...not solid as the books says it could be as well. the owner's manual says there are a couple of warning lights for different indications. A solid filled engine and an outlined engine. My warnign light is the outlined and it's orange color
is this the yellow check engine light?
