I have a 1998 camry and after an oil change my check engine light came on. What could be the problem?

If above the pump, it is usually the cam cover gasket in a Camry.

If it is the oil pressure warning light showing, the next thing to do is to remove the oil pressure sender unit and screw in a gauge to see if the sender is at fault.

After that it could be that the over-pressure relief valve in the oil pump has stuck open.

GET IT TO YOUR NEAREST AUTO ZONE OR AOTO PARTS STORE BUT CALL FIRST AND THEY WILL CHECK IT FOR FREE,BUT BEFORE THAT CHECK YOUR OIL,IT COULD BE UR OIL PUMP

you only need about 4 liters of engine oil..every sedan car only needs 4 liters of engine oil during change oil

on the 98 toyota camry check that the gas cap is on tight or look at my fix on the toyota sienna that could be it or a vacumm hose could be split or leaking i would have these checked before you get into very expensive repairs look for the obvious first

check oil level in car check timeing belt if theres no oil in car the engine may be bad

yes, that is called a "check eng" light, this may have came on for many different reasons, low eng oil level, low eng. oil pressure, eng. may be misfireing, eng. may be overheating etc. many things can cause this. get hold of a diagnostic scanner and scan for codes. or take it to any shop. theyll scan for you

a loose connection WILL NOT cause flickering oil light unless your your oil is empty at the same time a connector is loose. This flickering is most likely caused by clogged oil ports or failing oil pump. When this happens there is insufficient oil running through the engine, causing the sensor to activate the light intermittedly. Have this checked immediately to prevent extensive engine damage. No oil spiting out the open hole is not a good sign. Im sure you checked the oil level but check it again. Do not run the engine with no oil pressure or it will eat itself up in real fast. The problem could be in the pump itself. They seldom go bad but the some times they will have a clogged pick up screen or shear a pin on the gear.

these cars have problems with bad oil pressure warning switches you may have someone put an oil pressure gauge on the car and make sure your pressure is within spec and go ahead and change the sender if it checks out please rate -jeff
