There are 2 filters. one is the fuel sock on the in-tank pump. the second is after the line pressurization pump on the underside of the car. It is in a bracket hang on the drivers side, near the rear differential. ipdusa.com has filters and line sections just for this job. Good luck!

Where is the oil pressure sensor located on a 1987 volvo 240dl?

just above the oil filter around an inch away from the fillter housing. one single wire feed think is either a 10mm or 12mm spanner needed to remove it.

Where is the fuel pump? is it in gas tank? the car will start go a few blocks and shut off and not restart. I think it is fuel pump, may be fuel filter I also need to replace throttle positioning switch....

yes it is in the tank. but you can remove the rear seat to get to the fuel pump, instead of dropping tank. (2003 to 2005) kia sorento. fuel filter is inside tank and replaced with fuel pump as an assembly.

I have an 88 Volvo and once you take your foot off the gas it shuts off, is it the timing? or something else?? and how much would it cost to get the timing fixed?

It could be a number of things, but I don't think it is the timing. If it is there should be other signs, like after the car is shut off, does it keep trying to run and make clunking noises? Timing belts are cheap, but the labor is not...around $500 depending on the car.
I would reccommend doing a tune up...new spark-plugs.... check plug wires & coil/distributor with an OHM meter to the tolerances.
Check air filter and change the fuel filter.
This is where I would start.
Good Luck!

Happy holidays,my 89 volvo 240dl starts and runs great till it gets almost to run temp, then sputters and stalls. It will start right back up and stall out again.Ive recently replaced the...

It is most likely that you have a hole in your vacuum hoses (check your flame trap too) or your 02 sensor is bad. i would check both. good luck:)

Maintenance of s40 volvo 2003

Volvo is a good car. if you maintain you volvo by changing the oil on time, maybe after every month according to how you drive and changing you fuel filter, using 93 grade fuel or 89. I advice you to keep your volve. do your oil change on time don't wait until three to five months before changing your oil and don't use poor fuel (87) grade. change your tranmission oil after 18 months then your volvo is yours for life.

1990 240 volvo idle problems

I just had a similar problem with my 1990 240DL and it turned out to be the fuel pressure regulator located on the forward part of the fuel rail in the engine compartment in conjunction with the mas air flow meter. Both were repalced and now the engine idles normally.

91 volvo 240 - keeps stalling out, shakes a lot when idling

My 1990 240DL was doing the same thing and it turned out to be the fuel pressure regulator. It, unfortunatley, is a shop repair. $117 for the part and $150 for labor. It runs fine now.
