I recently had to replace a battery that was only a year old, after my daughters battery light continually stayed on. The battery was tested and was bad and replaced with a new one. However, the battery light is once on again, the battery shows a good charge when I put a meter to it. I am wondering if and thinking I should troubleshoot the altenator as maybe something is comprimising the battery.
The battery light doesn't indicate a battery problem, it indicates an alternator charging problem, this can be the alternator or the wiring in the charging system, a good alternator should not put out less than 13.8 volts under a load, this can be headlights on and ac blower on high, engine held at 1500 rpm
SOUNDS LIKE AN ALTERNATOR PROBLEM THE SYSTEM IS NOT RECHARGING ITS SELF AS IT SHOULD AND THEREFORE IT IS DRAINING THE LIFE OUT OF YOUR BATTERY AND WILL EVENTUALLY KILL THE NEW BATTERY TOO.
