Flat battery caused immobiliser problems

A flat battery at the weekend seems to have stopped my immobiliser from working properly and RAC couldnt jump start it as the engine cut out (they think immobiliser is to blame) on my 2005 Clio 182. Renault said that a flat battery does not impair the immobiliser when i called them.

Car battery keeps going flat and car will not start

the problem is in the charging system of the car possible on the alternator or regulator.... you can try if the charging or alternator is OK if you run the car and remove one of the battery terminal the negative its still running...or test it with the volt meter if there is a current from the alternator...low or high volts possible voltage 13 to 15 volts the output....and if there is a short on alternator at least 1 to 2 diode s have a problem.

Immobiliser is stopping it cranking when bypassing ignition engine cranks but dose not run.

the immobiliser is not stopping it from cranking but is stopping it from firing. run the fault codes as the immobiliser is not the only thing that controls the spark
it could be a flat battery in the key pad.

if the car battery goes flat you must first reset the immobiliser BEFORE you turn the engine over, otherwise it will run then stop .the clicking noise is the starter solenoid trying to engage but not having enough power to kick in properly.reconnect the correct guage of jump leads.(heavy duty)

Battery problem

sounds like there is a dodgy earth or have you had a new stereo/electrical equipment fitted? could be that there is a fault in the electrics causing the power to drain, wouldnt say that it was the immobiliser though.

dealer only sorry ,try either the spare key ,,often works or try locking and unlocking the door three times slowly then jumping in and try to start within 15secs .if none of this works then take car to dealer and be prepared to lay the golden egg as here in spain the average price for this is around 180€ upwards.no other solution other than disable the factory immobiliser and where do you find this information???if you do please let me know.this sort of problem is often associated with a flat battery where the car is left standing for a long period.
