To disable the alarm system in a 2001 Chevy Tahoe, try the following steps:
Close all doors and windows.
Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the "ON" position.
Within 10 seconds, press the lock button on the driver's door five times. The alarm system should turn off.
Note: The above steps assume that your 2001 Chevy Tahoe has a factory-installed alarm system. If it has an aftermarket alarm system, the steps to disengage it may be different.
There is excessive current flowing through the switch . It means that the wire after the switch is shorting out or the full current to the headlights is flowing through the switch and not through the relay. Check the wiring positions of the relays.

The door locks on my 1999 tahoe stopped working and I checked the fuse, which was fine. The problem turned out to be that the fuse for my cigarette lighter was bad and for some reason it also must be working in order for the door locks to work. Put in a new cigarette lighter fuse and the door locks worked again!
