Can I flat tow a 5 spd manual trans 2006 Mazda 3?

Most of the manual trans now take atuomatic trans fluid. It will be the Type F for your trans.

It will be fine to tow it on all 4. Put the transfer case in Neutral and the trans in neutral.

if it is 4wd with an automatic trans and you can put the transfer case in neutral it is ok to tow, any models with a manual trans. are ok to tow also

counter shaft bearing is bad.

You'll have to put it on a dolly. Automatic transmissions do not take kindly to being towed because they don't get lubricated. The oil pump in an automatic trans runs off the input shaft, so the engine has to be running. Hope this helps.

about 2 quarts and then top off to just below the lip of the fill plug on the side of the trans

a sync is probably going out the only way to fix is to rip the trans out

open your bonnet check to see @ gearbox if the-res is cable, or a cylinder, the cable is Usualy visible on the top of the gearbox if theres a cable theres no clutch flu-ed needed. Note that your gearbox uses oil. Usualy on older models like 1989 the use a clutch cable no flu-ed needed

No they don't, the cases look the same but they have part numbers, so the internal parts and how the trans is operated is different. Here are the part numbers. Many of the big parts may interchange.
