2006 Dodge Grand Caravan 3.3 litre misses badly when pressing accelerator pedal more than 25% of the way. If I disconnect the power wire to alternator she will open up and run without stalling or sputtering. Any ideas?

Most likely a grounding wire is loose or a wire harness is touching something and grounding out.

SOURCE: my 1996 dodge stratus stalls at idle

  1. Consider the complexity of your car before beginning and take your car to a trusted repair shop. Modern cars (mid-nineties or later) are extremely computer controlled, and it will be difficult for you to make any adjustments. You will want to take it into the shop to address this problem.
  2. The stall is likely caused by either a problem in the electrical system or in the fuel system. Your engine stops running because it is not igniting gas in the cylinders, this occurs either because there isn't gas to ignite, or because it lacks the electrical charge to ignite it.
  3. Drive the car up and down steep hills. Does this change the performance of the engine, or cause it to stall? This might indicate a clogged fuel filter. Replacing the fuel filter is relatively cheap and easy once you find out where it's located.
  4. Does the car idle roughly and stall when at idle? If your car has a distributor, you may need to adjust the timing. With the right tools and know how, this is an easy and free task. If your vehicle has fuel injection, you can check the injector by using a screw driver or mechanics scope. The injectors will make a clicking/snapping sound if working. No sound would indicate a bad injector available at most DIY auto parts stores. Also check the ICM, idle control motor that controls the air mixture.
  5. If your car has a distributor, you might consider changing the cap, rotor, wires and plugs. This is effectively a tune up. This can usually be done even by a relative novice to car repair, and take a couple of hours with the right tools. It seems counterintuitive, but even the wires and distributor decay over time, and transmit less electricity. This tune up may solve your stalling problem -- even if not, your car should run better and get better mileage.
  6. If your car diesels when you turn off the ignition, it often signals the need to replace the spark plugs. Dieseling describes the situation where you turn off the key, yet the car continues to run for a few seconds or longer, eventually sputtering to a stop.
  7. In rare cases, your car may stall due to what is commonly called a "vapor lock". It is actually a vacuum in the fuel line that causes fuel to eventually stop reaching the engine. Try opening your gas cap. If you hear a "whooshing" sound, like when you open a can of coffee, it's vapor lock. Now try starting the car. It should work after a couple tries. This is usually found only in older cars. If you have it, this will probably happen again, so your fuel line should be checked for blockage. A cheap fix is to drill a small hole in your gas cap to allow air in and prevent the vacuum from forming, but it should not be left this way.

SOURCE: 2006 Dodge Gr. Caravan. Loud humming noise upon

Misalignment of the belt, incorrect belt, worn or loose tensioner, Too tight of an adjustment (many service centers do this on purpose so when the belt breaks in it becomes properly adjusted, I do not believe in this philosophy), The belt is actually one long belt called a serpentine belt.....

SOURCE: 2006 Grand Caravan: Can't get pcv valve from a 3.8 dodge grand caravan...

I just replaced mine and had the same problem. If you look at the new one, you should find a small hole at the base of the metal tube. Using a mirror, I located the same hole in the one in the valve cover and inserted a pointed awl into it and was able to pry it out. Do it slowly since you are prying against plastic. When inserting the new one, I found that it should not be inserted as far the original one was and has a gentle snap.

Washer fuse location on Dodge Grand Caravan 3,8 litre 2006? There’s holes in that place but they don’t have any contact pins

I really don't know the answer to your question but you can turn it on and test all fuses to find which is blown. Or, what I did was to place the '2006 dodge grand caravan fuse diagram' in your search box and press the search and look down the list to find which is yours. That's how I got the full diagram for my '99 ranger just to find which fuse powered the speakers so I could put a switch on it. It always drained the battery and this switch on that fuse worked. No more battery drain.

Turn the ignition switch to On, but do not start the Car. Press the accelerator pedal all the way down three times, very slowly, but within 10 seconds. Turn the ignition off. The light should now stay off

My dodge grand caravan today threw a 700 engine code transmission module, car wont go over 25 and only has powered acceleration for first 5 seconds car is on.

700 is a generic transmission code. It went to limp mode, that's why it drives like it does. Have the codes read with a newer /better code reader or a scanner. Find out what other codes are in there.

2006 dodge grand caravan will not accelerate quickly and will only go 30mph when you press pedal to floor

This is a fly by wire throttle and the fault could be either the throttle pedal or the motor on the butterfly ,i would sugest that you take it to a dealer or a reputable mechanic as this is not a home repair

How do I disconnect the electrical wire and fuel line from my Dodge 2006 Grand Caravan, I need to replace the fuel pump

You just need to disconnect ground - wire from battery and you can choose one of the hoses on the fuel filter, put a oil pan before disconnect this hose... that's enough!

On my 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan the brake lights and back turn signals work fine. I changed the bulbs no luck. Any ideas

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome. Try checking your signal fuse and tail lamp fuse for the brake lights. They may have blown. If they are good, for the brake lights, you could have a bad brake switch, which is located right above your brake pedal. As for the turn signals, you could have a bad wire somewhere in the harness. Check closely at the bulb sockets. It is possible that you could have a loose wire at the signal switch or a bad wire.

Brake lights will not come on. have changed fuse, bulbs and brake pedal switch

You should check the wiring for any breaks, or missing insulation. It may also be a bad ground.

I hope this helps
