Most definitely sounds like either the cables from the battery to the fuse box or from the fuse box to the starter. If the cables seem to be clean at the battery it could be where they attach to the fuse box is corroded. If both ends of thos cables are fine then check corrosion on the cables from the fuse box to the starter.

I would look at corrosion and resistance in the battery cables and terminal ends.

SOURCE: car engine will not crank

on the starter there is a big battery cable and a small signal. wire connect a test light to the signal wire and try to crank the engine. if the light comes on then you will need a starter. be sure you have good connections first good luck.bye the way the light should only be on when you hold the key in crank pos.if the light is on all the time you are on the wrong wire.

SOURCE: I have 2002 Hyundai XG350L the car will not start

Hi. This sounds like your "Neutral Safety switch". It's designed so that you don't start your car in gear in drive and accidentally crash.

Here is the part at autozone.

... These are in the shifter on most cars, but sometimes they are hidden on top of the transmission. I'm sorry, I don't have a book on your exact model.

Hope that helps.

SOURCE: 2002 GMC Envoy, i put the key in ignition and

Ignition switch and neutral safety switch. Next time it happens wiggle thekeys in the ignition switch and try to restart. If it starts its probably the ignition switch. Then locate neutral safety switch on brake pedal and put meter on B+ wire from switch to starter relay and see if you get B+ on the would -be- crank. Next locate B+ wire from starter relay to starter hook a meter to it and see if you get B+ on the would -be crank.
Where ever B+ is missing is your problem.

Chrysler 300 2006 started and died 4 times and now won't do anything. Not even a click. Have battery power to everything else

Try boosting it. If it starts and keeps running with a boost, but dies soon after you remove the boost, the battery is bad.

Battery good, alternator charging, starter new, only starts with boost

it sounds like you might have a problem on the starter relay. check the voltages going to and leaving it. It should drop no lower than 9.5 volts during start.

New battery and new starter but still will not crank only clicks

More than likely the charging system is not working and allowing the battery to run down/low. Put a voltmeter on the battery and raise the engine about 2000 rpm and the battery should read 13.5-15.5 volts with all electronics on (fans switch on high, flashers, wipers, headllights, defrost etc). It should also read about 13.5 volts at idle but may not depending on the load from the accessories and voltage regulator. Most important is that it will read 13.5-15.5 volts when the engine is at 2000 rpm with the accessories on. If it does not read in that range the charging system(alternator most likely) has a charging problem.

Car is clicking when trying to start battery is new starter is new is there a starter relay on the fire wall there is 8 relays there wondering if that could be a problem

Listen to the clicking. If it comes from the starter solenoid (on the starter), then relay is not the problem, cause starter relay has passed current through to starter.. If clicking from one of those relays on the firewall, that might be a bad relay. You should be able to find the click by ear and by feel. Be sure and check your battery connections for tightness, the battery ground, and the starter connections. Could be a loose connection not letting the large current pass through.

The auto shut off relay keeps clicking but will not ingage the starter. I have replaced the fuel shut off relay as well as the starter relay and it still does the same thing. Makes a thumping noise for...

may be a bad starter or starter colenoid on the starter, have you tryed to boost car at all?suggest that you check for bad starter because the starter colenoid comes with the new starter. also, make sure the battery terminals are tight, the engine won't start without a good connection. thank you for choosing fixya.com

I have a 2000 ford focas manule and i left my place and it starded to jump like losing power i try to shif down and it would **** and **** i stop on the side of the road and stoped the car and when i went...

When you start your car,it starts by the battery. Then the alternator takes over the rest of the duties, including keeping the battery charged. I would start with having the alternator checked. A bad alternator can have the same symptoms. When you alternator goes bad,it cannot power things like the fuel pump and thus cannot get fuel to the engine.
