It's located on the back of engine block towards the transmission housing behind a metal heat shield.

The sensor is located on the left hand rear side of the block (near the bell housing). It is held in place by a 10mm bolt. It's to the right of the exhaust manifold (LH - radiator side) on the V6. Once you purchase the new sensor you'll be able to identify it on the engine. The connector to this sensor is located in the illustration.

SOURCE: location of cabin air filter

It can have a cabin air filter, but most vehicles ship without it. Either way, you can access the cabin air filter housing by opening the glove box all the way (squeeze the sides so it clears the stops).

The filters are around $15 at the dealer.

Whether or not there's a cabin filter installed, make sure you're also following Chrysler's recommendations in the owner's manual—running the air on recirculate all the time will encourage mold and bacteria to grow.

Good luck

ESP BAS ((ABS)) Brake and traction control light on in 2008 jeep patriot sport

I have the same problem on a 2009 Jeep Compass. I suspect a wheel speed sensor and when the weather gets better I'll check it out. I know if I take it in for service it will cost me a fortune for a simple problem. It's amazing the things they can find.
A couple years ago I took my Compass to Sears for service. I think it was for brake pads, shocks and a few small items. When I finally got the car back the bill was for $2500. What a shock.

My 2008 Jeep compass just passed over 91,000 miles and about the same time my chek engine light came on. Car doesnt seem to be running funny. What should i do?

Most larger parts stores will do a code scan for free. The light being on is a good thing as that tells you there is a code stored. If it's running well, chances are it's an O2 sensor that has gone out of range but do not replace it unless you have actually verified it has gone bad as many other sensors can turn the light on as well.
