Yes, make sure the correct torque is applied by using a real torque wrench. Tighten each bolt in crisscross pattern. In other words tighten one bolt and then tighten the one across from it. And the next one across from it.

You do not need to worry about where to bolt. One tip though, do not tighten the tC bolts until they are all in place. If you tighten one then you will not line up with the others. The exception to this is when you look at your fly wheel, see if one of the tc holes is slightly smaller than the others. If it is put that one in position for your first bolt. This will line up the tc for the other holes and you only have to turn it once and can torque the bolts down as you go around.

You do not need new bolts unless you damaged the ones taking them out. I owned an AAMCO and managed trans shops and never had to buy new bolts unless I lost them or they were rounded out getting them off.

Hope this helps

SOURCE: BROKEN FLEXPLATE ON TOYOTA 4RUNNER HAVE BROKEN 3

G'day mate , misallignment, make sure the bell housing is in good clean servicable condition also when the box is out check that the bell housing to gearbox is flat clean and serviceable by removing the torque converter and unbolting bell housing if it is posible also is the starter straight and in to the correct depth for mesh as if it is to shy or in to far it will put pressure on the flywheel as the torque converter has room to move in and out but the flywheel is under great pressure at that point and will not like being flexed bac to accomadate a deep starter, on the bell housing bolt holes there may be hollow dowels in the bolt holes make sure these are clean, in the right place and actually there, hope this helps

What should the cost estimate be to replace the flexplate on a 2009 dodge ram 1500 4wd 5.7 hemi?

Not considering the costs of parts themselves, the labor to remove and replace the transmission, torque converter and flexplate runs estimates at approximately 4.5 hours. If you have a skid plate and dual exhaust, add another .5 hour. At rates of approximately $80-100 USD per hour of labor, you are looking at $360.00-$500.00 labor, plus the cost of parts and fluids.

Sounds like the either the torque converter bolts have come loose or the torque tube bearings have colapsed.
Starter motor loose or severley worn out.

My flexplate keeps breaking what could be braking them last one was new

The flexplate bolts are torque-to-yield which means they are prestreched from the factory. If you take them off you MUST buy new ones. If the new ones don't come with Locktite or simular bolt lock you MUST put it on every bolt right before installaton. If you don't use new bolts one or more will break causing uneven presure on the flexplate causing breakage. Two other causes maybe faulty flexplate (make sure you buy a new one from a good company) or wrong starter; just because it bolts up does not mean it's the right one. I really hope this helps you.

My exwife had someone replace the tranny in her 1998 Chrysler Sebring. Now it wont turn over, it sounds like it is bounded up as if something is possibly jammed. I was thinking maybe the torque converter...

Probably the starter gear is binding on the flywheel after the reinsatlation. If your turning it over with a wrench then that leads me to the starter.

I have removed the pressure plate and clutch disc. how do i remove the flex plate to get to the flex plate bolts. 2007 dodge ram 3500 6 speed manual transmission

theres an access cover under the turbo on the front of the bellhousing (2 10mm bolts) that you have to remove to access the bolts that hold the flywheel to the flexplate. kinda like removing the bolts to a torque converter. flywheel is real hevy though, watch your fingers

Noise when I start Mazda MPV 2003

Well depending on the noise, it could be a starter, or it could be whats called the flex plate (assuming yours is like most and its an automatic) There is a sheetmetal plate that bolts to the crank of your engine that then allows the torque converter of your transmission to turn. This Flexplate that connects the turning part of your engine and the main turning part of your transmission also has a ring of teeth on it that the gear of your starter engages into to turn the engine round to get your car started. If its a tinging or clanking sound similar to to the metalic sound of aluminum or light stainless frying pans then it might be a flexplate going bad. If it sounds like a deep clunking noise it might be an engine problem. If the initial sound is more of a grinding kind of noise and then goes away after a few seconds of running the starter may be staying engaged after the engine starts. That would be the starter and maybe an additional problem with the flexplate as well. If its a flexplate sound there should be a cover on the bottom of the transmission directly behind the engine that has just a few bolts . Jack up the car, put it on jack stands or drive it up on some ramps. Unbolt the cover and see what the flexplate looks like. See if the teeth are bad and lightly push it with a screwdriver or something and see if it is loose. If could also be a torque converter going bad but the transmission would normally slip if that was the problem.
Hope this helps you narrow it down...
