SOURCE: the cooling fan keeps running
The fan is suppose to run until engine cools off. If battery drains before cooling down a good place to start is a weak battrey
SOURCE: Coolings fan keeps running
the cooling fans are switched off and on by a relay. either this relay bad and staying on all the time, or something else is bad and telling it to stay on all the time. you might unplug the engine coolant temp sensor and see if the fans switch off. if they do you have a bad temp sensor, if they don't you probably have a bad relay. they will test either for you at most car parts stores. the relay will be in the underhood power distribution box, it plugs in like a fuse. disconnect the battery negative terminal before you start unplugging things from the power distribution box. hope that helps

Assuming the fuses are fine the most likely culprit is one of 3 fan relays located on the red cradle at the bottom of you rad. I had the same problem and repalced all 3 seeing as they are a pain to access

You can unplug the fan so it doesnt run the battery dead. Typically what happens with these vehicles is that a failing radiator fan burns out the solid state fan relay, this can also cause the relay to short and supply continuous voltage to the fan assembly. The relay is located below the passenger headlamp but you will need to remove the front bumper to access it.

You can start with checking the fuse that is usually located in the engine compartment fuse panel...in there there may be a cooling fan relay that will need to be checked also...if these components check out..then sometimes the sensor on the engine for the cooling fan circuit may have become defective....usually it is located somewhere on the housing where the top radiator hose goes...you may have 2 different ones as the other is used for the temperature gauge
