I don't believe that's normal. Most radios have a power supply and an auxiliary supply. It appears to me you have lost the main power. You can test that by checking to see if your clock has the correct time. If the time starts over every time you turn the key on, That's your problem. However, you said it's a new car, so you should be able to have the dealership fix it for free.

1997 toyota Rav4 2L will not turn over or start, no clicking sound when turning the key! battery and wires are good and ignition relay switch has been replaced, lights and radio work

Did you check for power going to the starter. could be a connection on that side of things. should be able to pull starter and jump batt to it to see if gear pops out and spins.

Remove radio

Replace the CD player. To pull the plastic baffle off the dashboard: Adjust the heating vents so they point downwards. Grab the plastic bar between the heating vents and the stereo. Pull. Remove the screws from the front of the mounting brackets. Pull out the crappy stereo. Unplug the antenna and the wiring harnesses. Transfer the mounting brackets to your new stereo. Cut off the big wiring harness (unless you're lucky enough to have a replacement stereo that accepts the same kind). Connect the wires to the wires on your new stereo's harness. Audio system on 2007 Rav 4

if it doesn't have an aux jack, you will have to get an adapter that plugs into your cigarette lighter/ power source plug. then you can tune to 88.7fm(unless a different channel is specified)
