Water is getting into my spare tire area on my 2006 Nissan Sentra. I cant find where its coming from. Does anyone have any ideas. The carpet area on top is damp, but the initial cover under that is musty, damp and smelly and needs replacing. I'm thinking the water is coming from under the car since nothing in the trunk has gotten damp or wet.
It could be the trunk weather seal or the rear window seal, make sure they are good all the way around. then use a hose to check for leaks or a car wash.not a drive thru car wash in case the leak is bad.at night put a light in the trunk to see if you see any light with the trunk closed.hope this helps.
CHECK TO MAKE SURE THE WEATHER SEAL AROUND THE TRUNK LID IS NOT DAMAGED.IF YOU CAN GET SOMEONE IN THE TRUNK WITH A FLASHLIGHT TO SEE IF WATER IS COMING IN AROUND THE SEAL WHILE YOU USE A HOSE TO SOAK THE TRUNK LID GAPS

All the seals look good, and I did run a hose over the back window area and around the trunk. (didnt see a leak) The reason I think it must be coming from the bottom is that nothing "IN" the trunk is wet, but there is water sitting in the spare tire well. Last winter I had to chip the tire out of ice when I had to fix a flat tire. There are two plugs on the bottom of the tire well which seem to be in tight.I will try the flashlight in the trunk tonight.
