The switch which controls both is called the multi-function switch. You probably need to replace it. I had a similar problem.
You need to have the BCM (body control module) scanned for faults. This requires a dealer level tool.

Sounds like you have a bad switch assembly. Is yours the type that the wipers/ turn signals and washer operate all on the same lever? the turn signal switch ? If so that is most likely the problem.

if its the bit thats you where pulling at it will come of but dont tap it as it may break the screen have you got or can you borrow a small bearing puller place the teath behind the pice that need to come off and the threaded bolt on the mast of the motor screw it in and it will come off no probs they are a tight fit and can be a pig to get off hope this helps and makes sence all the best ivan uk
