It is possible that a component in the ignition system is affected by the heat in the engine compartment, and will resume functioning after it cools down. Coils an capacitors would do that in the old days. Now it's microchips and computers. Are there no OBD Codes.?

It could be a few things. Components that work properly for a certain time and then fail usually do so because they've overheated- a few common ones are ignition coils, ignition modules, fuel pumps, and more. I'd check the crankshaft position sensor as well. Stop by an auto parts store and have them do a diagnostic scan with their obd2 scanner- this usually narrows it down to a few things or tells you exactly what the problem is and they'll gladly check it out for free!

Thanks & have a great day! See the picture below!

SOURCE: 2005 GMC Envoy Locked in 4WD all the time

If your luck it's going to be a $15.00 vacuum switch on the transfer case that takes about 15 min to replace, if it's the electronic solenoid to the transfer case then it's going to be cost a little more and take a little longer. If your try switching from 4WD to 2WD and hear the solenoid working by hearing the cluck's when it engages and disengage then it's going to be the vacuum switch on top of the transfer case on the drivers side. Auto Zone Sell's them for $15.00 and they will have the step by step instructions to replacing the switch. They will also have the transfer case solenoid  too, if you don't hear the solenoid. Check the fuses, the fuse may have gone bad. Good luck and hope this helps.

2005 gmc envoy, while at idle or driving under 25 my car will shut down, the dealer can't find anything wrong . doenst happen all the time but does do it. I was on interstate and traffic was at about 25-30...

GM used an automatic starting function on the envoys. The engine cranking after you let go of the key is normal operation. Under normal conditions you wouldn't notice it, but because the engine is not starting up immediately, it continues to crank in attempt to start the engine.
As far as the engine stalling goes, some basics that come to mind for the envoy are:
1) Is the throttle body dirty? A dirty throttle body can cause stalling at lower engine speeds.
2) Is there a vacuum leak at the engine? A vacuum leak can also cause stalling at lower engine speeds, depending on the severity of the vacuum leak.
3) Has anyone checked the fuel pressure? A fuel pump that's on it's way out can also cause stalling problems.

Sounds like this thing needs some quality diagnosis by a good driveability technician :)

I lost the key & transmitter for my 2004 Envoy. Had a new key made at the GMC dealer. Worked great one time. Tried later and it seems the alarm set itself. Cannot get the alarm to disengage thus...

Ignition keys relearn takes about 30 min to do. 30-Minute Learn Procedure 1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF. 2. Attempt to start the engine, then release the key to ON; the vehicle will not start. 3. Observe the SECURITY tell tale light. After approximately 10 minutes, the light will turn OFF. 4. Turn OFF the ignition switch, and wait 5 seconds. 5. Repeat steps 1 through 4 - two more times - for a total of 3 cycles of 10 minutes. 3x10 = 30 minutes. The vehicle is now ready to relearn the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or passwords on the next ignition switch turn from OFF to CRANK Important: Turn the Ignition Switch OFF. The vehicle learns the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or password on the next ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK. You must turn the ignition OFF before attempting to start the vehicle. 6. Start the engine. The vehicle has now learned the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or password. 7. With a scan tool, clear any DTCs if needed. History DTCs will self clear after 100 ignition cycles. Without a scan tool you may have momentary starter interruptions while history clears itself.

2005 GMC Envoy. Wining sound from under the car at startup.

Hello,
I suggest checking your starter motor. If the starter motor is staying engaged it could be a bad solenoid or a bad ignition switch.

I hope this helps.
