1993 Nissan Maxima 3.0 sohc Re4F02a transmission. Intermittently goes into limp mode at startup. Shut it off and start it back up and it is usually fine. Transmission diagnostics are 4,5,and 6. Shift solenoid valve a circuit. Shift solenoid valve b circuit. And timing solenoid valve circuit. I have talked to a shop and he seemed to think it was a ground. Checked all the grounds I can find and ran diagnostics from fsm for the three fault codes and all checks out. Have run a few other other diagnostics from fsm that check out as well. Definitely seems like and electronics issue, but I’m no tranny mechanic. Where do I go from here?

the tcm may be faulty or has a loose ground, try swaping in another if you can get one borrowed or a cheap used one from a salvage unit

SOURCE: 97 caravan check engine light, transmission will not up shift from 1st.

The only reasonable part is the labor charge. I couldn't second-guess the shop's recommendation, maybe both parts are needed, but you could have them replace the shift solenoid, and try driving it for awhile, see what happens. Then if you need the TCM, try a used one from a salvager for less than half the cost of new. That is something you could install yourself.
Whatever you decide, good luck.

2011 Hyundai Elantra New transmission but vehicle runs in limp mode intermittently

As my old dad used to say "they must have seen you coming"! Are you, young, female, blonde and cute? :>D

Engine tick is caused by play in the valve lifters and is an easy repair. It may have been the timing chain, but.... "Elantra's new, maintenance-free silent timing chain enhances engine durability while reducing noise." In normal circumstances, tick is not a reason to put in a new engine.

It sounds like your issue is bad connectors to the ECU. They spraying the connectors with electrical switch cleaning spray.

If that doesn't work, you need a good auto electrician with a professional grade scan tool computer to diagnose the issue. These computers can record exactly what happens to put the vehicle into Limp Mode.

95 Nissan Maxima transmission code p 07340 p 11005 transmission is in limp mode have erased several times

what have you done to repair the fault that shows the codes?
from your statement you are removing the codes and resetting the ECM but the codes come back and the vehicle goes back into limp mode
one of the codes (p 0734 --0?) refers to gear 4--incorrect ratio===causes --wiring---TR sensor /switch ---shift solenoids---transmission mechanical fault
If that fault area is not fixed then the TCM doesn't know what gear to select so it goes to limp mode

95 Nissan Maxima in limp mode automatic transmission stage and second and third how do you get out of limp mode

There are major faults that need to be addressed. The car is in limp mode because the computer is saving the engine or transmission from damage if the car is driven. IF you ignore the problem and do nothing to have the vehicle problems diagnosed and fixed it will stop running altogether.

You get it out of limp mode by fixing the problems with the vehicle - not ignoring them.

Transmission locked up, felt like it was stuck in second or third gear. not shifting. shut engine off and restarted , shifting properly now. what causes this.

It was a temporary fault that put the car into limp mode (a safeguard operating condition designed to protect the transmission in case of serious failure). Sometimes a transient fault can occur, and the car goes into limp mode just to be sure it's not for real. Shutting off and restarting the car is the usual way to clear the fault and return the car to normal operation - if the problem was real, the car would've stayed in limp mode after restart, or gone into limp once you started driving again. I wouldn't sweat this one, since it went right back to normal operation.
