SOURCE: CODE P1405

Check the hoses to the DPFE sensor from the exhaust pipe, the sensor is near the EGR valve, if the hoses are ok then replace the sensor, careful not to tear the special heat resistant silicone rubber hoses, they are about $10 each and ordinary rubber hose will burn up.

1996 mercury tracer trouble code p 1405 wheres the sensor hose located 0n a 1.9 engine any pic.

The P1405 trouble code on a 1996 Mercury Tracer indicates an issue with the differential pressure feedback electronic sensor circuit (DPFE). The DPFE sensor is located on the driver's side of the engine compartment, mounted to the firewall.
To locate the sensor hose, follow the black rubber hose that connects to the sensor. The hose will lead to the EGR valve, which is located on the intake manifold.
Unfortunately, I am not able to provide pictures, but a quick online search may yield helpful visual aids.

My 1999 ford escort all of a sudden when i started it up started making a knocking or tapping noise and the car was shaking. it is not over heating but while i was driving the service engine light cam

I would take it to a parts store to figure out what the trouble code is.Most of them will scan your car for free. That is always a good place to start.

P1405 code

DTC P1405 - Differential pressure feedback (DPFE) sensor upstream hose off or plugged
Verify both hoses are connected to the DPFE sensor first. Ford has two versions of the sensor commonly used of this generation of modular engines.

The first uses a pair of flexible hoses to make the connections from the EGR tube to the sensor. The hose may fail and cause this problem.

The second type of DPFE sensor is stalk-mounted. The two tubes from the EGR tube come up to the sensor and the sensor is just pushed down onto the ends of the tubes and is secured with hardware.

Inspect to see which type you have and whether there are any obvious connection failures.

Hope this helps (remember to rating this free answer).

Air Conditioner leaking into passenger side of 1999 Ford Escort. Need to locate drain line to clean it out...Found leaves and debris in barrel fan... how to keep keep leaves out... THANKS!

The water leaking is caused by the evaporator drain being stopped up. Look under the car in the area of the firewall on the passenger side and try to find the end of a rubber hose the water is supposed to drain from. Clear it out with air pressure.

The leaves will usually work their way in from the fresh air intake below the wipers. Keep it cleared off to prevent them from getting to the fan.

P1405,P0141 F150 2001

Ford has problems with the DPFE sensors that has to do with the EGR. its just a code that points you in the direction of the problem. you could have a bad DPFE or egr or just a simple clogged hose. there should be 2 hoses on these f150s the only way to tell is by checking hoses otherwise you need more tools to check these things. a vacuum test on the DPFE sensor to see if it reacts.

the other code is an O2 sensor code. heater problem. could be different problems or a bad O2 can cause a rich condition cause low fuel mileage and also cause the EGR system to clogg over time.
I dont knwo what else to help you with because its one of those things that just needs to be looked at in person. your best bet is check the DPFE hoses. should be near EGR and look for rubber hoses connecter to a sensor. should have 2 hoses connected to it. Google a pic of one so you knwo what they look like.
Good luck
