There is a self adjusting pulley that is spring loaded and works when properly included when the belt is installed properly. There should be a diagram of proper routing on a white decal under the hood. Good luck.

I have a 2007 Ford Escape Hybrid. The best hitch is the one available at your Ford dealer parts department. You cannot install a generic hitch because this is a unitized body/frame car. The Ford hitch bolts right onto existing bolts. It took me only about 2 hours to do the job. You have to cut a small square hole in the plastic bumper for the hitch to stick out.

Chances are it is a bad ABS sensor. Need to get scanned to know for sure and which one.
