Towed home, right, and battery is 100% full dead or bad.
read the manual, on new keys (alien)
this is no year 1980 and back sorry !

the IMMO must be happy.(and sure is not)
a new key must be married to the car per the manual
this maker of car has no self (DIY )key programming (2nd ,or 3rd from one good key) sorry NONE>

the answer is here

  • The Manufacturer decided to not produce this vehicle with self-programming capabilities.
  • You must get an Automotive Locksmith to program the remote to your vehicle for you.
  • If your vehicle requires professional programming we tell you, so you're not left with any doubt and searching all over the internet.
  • It's still much cheaper to purchase a remote from NorthCoast Keyless and get it programmed by a Locksmith rather than buying from a Dealership!
  • We strongly recommend calling a Local Auto Locksmith for help here.
  • Find a Local Automotive Locksmith instantly by using our search tool below:

SOURCE: 2003 Jaguar S-Type, programming a key fob

The switchblade key would need to be compatable with your ignition switch barrel. Only normally available from jag dealers who check the Jag owners register before supplying you a replacement.
The older type seperate fobs could be programmed by switching the ignition on and off 8 times (allowing all functions to settle) and on the 9th switch on - press a button on each fob and then switch off. to test use a good fob to lock the car then try the reprogammed fob to unlock/lock. Sometimes this works first time - sometimes needs a couple of tries.

SOURCE: 2004 jaguar x-type will not start. turn key and i

I am not familiar with the machanics of this car, but just one click is either a starter or a starter solenoid. As this may be a Ford derivative, solenoid is probably remote, between the battery and the starter. Remote type, usually mounted on inside fenser wall, have large gauge wire from battery to one side and a large gauge wire from the other, with small wire(s) for starting cicuit - check connections for small wires first with cleaning and reattaching. Solenoid itself can go bad, can test by jumping across from large post to large post (CAREFULLY); if car starts, then solenoid is bad.

SOURCE: key in ignition won,t turn 2004 ford escape

several things, does key go in and out easily, turn steering wheel in both directions while turning key. sometimes the steering wheel lock binds the lock cylinder and turning wheel releases the pressure and it will turn. other than that the ignition cylinder is jammed, wet key lightly with lubricant such as wd-40 and a light bit in key hole and try key again, If key is heavily worn out , try a different ignition key as it might not be disengaging all the tumblers in lock, if all this fails you need a new cylinder.

How do you replace ign lock cylinder on a 2003 jaguar x type if the key wont go in the cylinder

You may have to resort to the dealer or a locksmith authorized to work on Jags. Removal of the ignition cylinder requires the use of the key to enable you to rotate the cylinder for removal from the housing. This is a safety/ anti theft feature built into the design.

What can I do if my key won't turn in the ignition switch of my 2004 jaguar s type?

if its the correct key for your car and its not working try a spare if you have one. check the condition of the teeth on the key it maybe worn out or bent. it could also be the key tumbler that is worn and needs replacing. does your key chain weigh a lot that is more than the weight of say just 4 keys if so this may have caused the tumblers to were out.

Why can I nor insert the key into a jaguar s type (2004)

What? are you still stuck over there? The reason is because you don't insert your key properly, plus the steering unlocks and seats move because of accessories mode, if you want to move out of park, it must be ignition on.

Can a bad fuse keep the ignition key from coming out of the 2004 Jaquar X Type?

Bad ignition switch, the ignition is not allowing you to turn the key fully and releasing your key, you will need a new key cylinder.

I have 2004 x-type jag and need to know what the key looks like to take the tire off

I assume you wish to remove the wheel, not the tyre.
Look at the wheel and you will see an odd looking wheel nut, imagine the shape that is requred to go over this, and this is the inside of what looks like a socket with a hex head sticking from it.
It's about 1.8" high. normally located in the boot (trunk) under the carpet on the RHS nearest you.
you can find a picture here:- http://www.shopadilly.co.uk/Auctions/jaguar%20locking%20wheel%20nut%20key.

Hi,

I have a similar problem in my x type. Although if I press unlock button on the key first and then use the metalic key to unlock it dissables the alarm.

Also according to the manual if you unlock by the metalic key the car starts a beeping sound its I think 15-20 second timer within which you should put the key and start the ignition (don't need to start the engin) this will dissarm the alarm if not the alarm will go off in 15-20 second.

Hope this information is of any use, am trying to get hold of Jaguar dealers to fix this issue. If you come accross any solution please do let me know too
