Your problem will be in your alternator, the brake light and charge light coming on at the same time is almost Daihatsu code for the alternator brushes are failing.. Easiest way to determine this is when the two lights come on, leave the car running and pop the hood (don't forget to put the car in park or out of gear with handbrake on) then find yourself a solid bar or stick and give the alternator (rear of engine bay) a solid but not hard tap. If your alternator brushes are failing you will hear the alternator kick in and see your brake/battery lights go out. Don't drive around too much with the two warning lights lit up because you are running on the battery only and your ignition system could cut out at any time when the battery gets too low.
Autozone will scan your vehicle for free. Is your battery a maint free battery. if not check the water level in the battery. be careful no to get the acid on you. you can remove the plugs from the top using a screwdriver. By the way how old is the battery?
Can you do me a favor. check the level of brake fluid in your brake resevoir. I am wondering if you have a low level and the sensor is shorting the electrical system. causing the fault. if you have a low level you may have your brake pads checked. let me know
do you have an autozone near you. they will scan for free

Could have a computor problem-have it scanned 1st though your battery may be failing as well as brakes-do inspection and allso chec for bad wires-giv that baby a physical
I have a 90 model Diahatsu / Rocky. Everything is great but----
It will not start in wet weather; it won't hit the first time. Give it a couple of days of dry weather and it starts almost instantly (as quick as you hit the switch). Is it the distributor cap or coil wire possibly going straight to ground when damp?

It comes on during driving and when restarted after a short time period. When started the next day it does not come on immediately and sometimes they don't come on at all. Always come on together at the same time.
The battery is brand new.
Checked that at the fluid level is good.
just because a battery light comes on doesnt mean its dying. it maybe overcharging. You may want to check at autozone. does the light come on after the car sits idle or whenits off?
I'm curious how this all worked out. I just got a 1990 Rocky and after a week we have the same battery light and brake light on. Mine has a hard time starting telling us it is probably the alternator. Also, we took it 4-wheeling and after going thru a big mudpuddle it died. Had to dry everything out. There are no skid plates for protection.
I'm curios what you found out. I just got a Rocky 2 weeks ago and I am having the same problem.
