SOURCE: where is the glow plug relay located in a 2005 vw

Hi gardagerrby
The glow plug relay is fitted on the face of the fuse board.
These relays differ from each other according to chassis number. They come in 7 pin...8 pin and 9 pin versions.
Hope this helps you

SOURCE: Can anyone tell me where to find the glowplug

Above the Relay Panel is the Auxiliary Relay Panel. Has thirteen positions in it.
6 across the top, 7 across the bottom.

Across the bottom the Glow Plug Relay is the fourth one over from the left. It is Number 10.

SOURCE: How do i replace my VW SHARAN 02 glow plug relay.

the glow plug relay is a little black box normally located in the fues box, the relay regulates power to the glow plugs, if the relay is not functioning correctly the plugs will not heat enough or, you will have to allow a longer time to let them heat up, it acts like a switch as such, when you turn on your ignition it switches over to make a contact inside, which inturn starts the heating prosess of the glow plugs when they are at the correct tempreture or the onbored computer detects they are it then switches back , without it , say just using a fuse instead, your glowplugs will just get hotter and hotter till they melted, and no you dont have to change the glow plugs hope this helps, ime not good at explaining stuff in writing lol

SOURCE: where is the glow plug relay on a 1996 vw passat

On the front right(or left) of the firewall its a black plastic fuse holder and if in doubt follow the glowplug wires and one will lead to the fuse in the engine bay.

1997 VW JETTA DIESEL GLOW PLUGS

The glow plug relay is responsible for the duration of glow plugs, this needs to be the starting point. You should get a 12v out for so many seconds when ignition is switched on.
I have taken the cover off relays in the past, cleaned up the internals, sprayed with circuit cleaner and got plenty more years out of them, worth a try.

Engine Maintainance light on

This could most likely be one of 2 things, 1. if it is your maintainance light, it is probably one of your sensors, possibly the mass air filter sensor, oil pressure sensor, and 2. If it is a diesel engine and its the glow plug light, you would need to replace your glow plug relay because it telling you that the glow plugs are still on when the engine is running, which you should take care of asap before you have to replace the glow plugs themselves.
