1996 chrysler town & country electrical system problem

My 1996 chrysler town & country keeps flashing the door ajar light, ringing the alert bell, and randomly locking and unlocking the doors whenever i step on the accelerator. It does it every few seconds and its driving me nuts. What could be causing this kind of problem and what do I do to fix it?

It also failed the smog test with more than double the allowable amounts for a gross polluter. The only OBDC code is P0140 which is "oxygen sensor ckt inactive (bank 1, sensor 2)". I replaced the sensor upstream of the catalytic converter but the code is still showing. Is that code for the sensor downstream of the catalytic converter? The smog test tech seems to think that it is more likely a bad catalytic converter rather than just the oxygen sensor because of the extremely high readings of pollutants. What do you think I should do?

For the door chime and locks your problem is a door jam switch or th bcm push and pull on the sliding door and see it would be a good idea to keep a 2nd key in your pocket

Door ajar - probably a defective or unplugged door switch. Try pulling them, one at a time and checking the wire connections on them.

Where are these "switches"? I've closely examined my 2003 T&C and can't find anything resembling a "door switch" on the sliding doors.

Cant find door sensor 2002 chrysler town & country

I know on my ford ranger the switch is located inside the door such that when the door latch rotates around the lock pin, it actuates the switch. If you don't see the switch in the door jamb, pull the inside door panel off and take a look around, focusing on the area around the latch.

Either you have a bad door jamb switch (stuck closed) or a short in the interior light ground side circuit. Start by checking drivers door jamb switch.

that issue is most likely a body control module. if one is replaced, it may have to be programmed by dealer.
