My 1999 plymouth voyager service engine soon light came on. What could be the problem?

It was running and starting just fine. The next time I turned the van on it stated then it died and I can't get it to start again. It wants to turn over though

If this vehicle is not had a tune up in a while it would be a good idea to start their fuel filter air filter or spark plugs cetera usually the service engine soon light doesn't cause the car to die the check engine light can if the problem is severe if you can get it started you can take it to a auto parts store that runs a code test on the vehicle to get an idea if there is a code related problem but a tune up could solve your problems it's a cheap place to start

SOURCE: service engine soon light is

the free way Simply disconnect your battery, turn on the headlight switch for about five to ten minutes, and re-connect the battery. This is pretty simple, but will likely result in you losing your radio presets and perhaps some other small things like that. or take it to someone Most if not all scan tools have an option to clear or reset codes without the use of any tools or touching the battery. Consult your tool's manual for information on how to do it with your particular model.

I have a 1999 Plymouth Voyager Expresso, checked the oil stick & saw bubbles, is this a major repair?

Service engine soon light has nothing to do with the oil. It indicates that you have a problem in the electronics that control the engine and or the emission control system. You must get the system tested with a tool called a scanner to see what fault code was stored when the SES light was turned on. Please read your owners manual.

Stop by one of the big autoparts stores and they will scan for codes free of charge, then you /we can better pinpoint problem. Write down the code(s) and if the fix isn't obvious from code(s), get back to us with code(s),and we will further assist you from there. Faster and cheaper to get code(s) first.
