You might want to try and reverse flush the heater matrix. This is the small radiator within the heater. To do this find the two hoses that lead away from the engine compartment to the bulkhead of the car. Undo them both from whatever joints you can find, you will get some coolant loss. Get a garden hose and turn on the water and allow the water to push through the matrix. Do this in both directions ie into both of the loose hoses then reconnect the original hoses top up the coolant, Don't forget to add antifreeze and hopefully a working heater.

SOURCE: NO HEAT IN 2002 ALTIMA

you may need ot do a cooling system flush, go buy a bottle of radiator flush, put it in the radiator when it is cold, run the car for about 15 mins, and go up to the car wash and take the upper rad hose off, and use the power washer to push all of the gunk and anti-freeze through the system. do it until it runs clean.... let the car run for 2 mins with the hose off after flushing and buy straight antifreeze, not 50/50. add it to the radiator, you should have heat.....

If this does not work, then your control unit in your dash may be bad....

SOURCE: No heat when engine is at low rpm or idle.

same problem with my 2005 Altima V6, with only 44k miles on it!!! and this is the second winter in the last 4 years that I have to pay for a coolant flush to fix the problem. This time the thermostat is getting replaced too. Time for a new car!

Sounds like you have air trapped in the heater core when you flushed the heater core. loosen the upper most heater core hose and run the engine untill coolant seeps out. Wait until the coolant has reached running temperature.

2oo2 land rover discovery over heating after about 20 minutes of driving .. But it will not over heat when it's parked idling it can stay on for hours with out over heating...what the problem ???

Check your water pump, could be bad seals causing the coolant not to recirculate while driving and causing it to over heat, also could be a bad thermostat. Here's a link on replacing your water pump,is your fluid low in your over flow container,if so,look under to see if it's at the water pump. I have a 2002 Nissan Altima. The heat no longer works, it blows out cold air. The heat will only slightly work when I drive on the highway.

Usually it's a bad thermostat or a blocked heater core. The best way to fix it is to have it flushed out. But make sure when it's done, either by you or your shop of choice, they disconnect all the hoses and do the heater core, motor and rad seperately. Also put in a new thermostat. Another problem in certain vehicles with low use is that the air direction flaps in the dash are stuck. Start the car, and move the dials. you should hear the flaps/doors moving. (They are vacuum controlled, so thats why you start the car). I hope this helps.

No heat. Both thermostats replaced.

Pressure test the cooling system. Remove the spark plugs and inspect the top of the piston. Look for coolant. If you can see your own eye you found coolant. If the cooling system was properly bled and still no heat at idle you may find coolant in the cylinder. The head gasket would need to be replaced and the surfaces prepped. Machining the head is not recommended.

Is the coolant level in the rad (engine)correct.
Other causes could be thermostat and/or pressure cap.
