SOURCE: 1999 saab 9-3 wheel bearing removal

You need air tools, many differnet size sockets and a press. The strut/spindle and lower control arm have to come out all together. leaving the axle in the car.The spinlde cannot be removed from the strut. once removed, you can then unbolt the lower control arm ball joint nut, and seperate the lower control from the spindle - for ease for the press. press the hub out, remove the snap rings on either side and press the old bearing out. press in new bearing , install snap rings, press the hub in and reinstall. I just did one today... I have 15 years experience as a ford tech - Ugh bro.. - Josh

SOURCE: remove front axle from differential on 2003 dodge ram

That works fine on a relatively new vehicle but one that has run in salt etc you'll save a lot of time if you remove the steering knuckle completey by separating lower ball joint and outer tie rod end ball joint and bring the whole steering knuckle to a bench to separate the hub/bearing. Soak everything with penetrant, loosen the bolts a few turns and try hitting right on the bolt heads. I also made a very sharp wedge from a chisel and rammed it hard on the other side to seoarate the hub. It will finally come apart then you'll see all the **** that was binding it due to an alumininum knuckle re-acting with a steel hub. Clean the hole and grease everything and fit new bearings

Can you remove the driver side cv axle from a 2005 Chevy asteo van AWD permenanlry

The CV axle stub (end with the axle nut on it) supports the wheel bearing, removing the axle then driving on it would cause the bearing to wear prematurely. I would not recommend this. The front differential is also sealed by the cv assembly, removing it would cause the diff fluid to leak out . CV shafts for this van run $50-80. I would replace if it is bad, instead.

How do I remove the alternator from a 2001 Chevy Venture Van

Remove negative battery cable and remove the strut mounts from the top of the radiator header. Then fold the mounts with the brackets toward the engine .Then use a turn buckle like tool and use it to pull the engine toward the front and make sure it is secure .Reach ,and feel to remove the bolts from the alternator.Remove the drive belt, some applications require the removal of the power steering unit, but u may not have to.Note the bracket on the alternator will have to be removed before the removal of the alternator itself.Do not remove transmission linkages from wiper assembly. There are two bolts ,short one,and a longer one you can not see,You will have to feel for them.Loosen the pivot bolt first and remove if possible,if not remove it after you can turn the alternator around to do so..Remove the other bolts from the alternator and remove alternator from engine compartment.

Front and back berring dissassembly of differential 2001 dodge 1500

For the rear diff., remove the driveshaft, brake drums, diff. cover, remove pinion flange nut, move diff carrier to access side gear retainer bolt and remove bolt, slide side gear pin out and push axles in to remove axle retainers and remove axels. Mark carrier bearing retainers, spin bearing retainers to loosen carrier for removal. Remove carrier, remove pinion out of diff case, then r&r bearings. Any shims should be replaced in their original location for depth and pinion to ring contact.

Engine

The engine and cradle do indeed come out the bottom easier. when the cradle is supported and dropped free from the body the body front will be light enough to be picked up by the engine hoist far enough to pull the cradle assembly out from underneath
