The universal harness with four wires assumes that the brake lights and turn signals use the same bulbs. If your Blazer has separate bulbs for rear turn signals and brake lights, this 'universal' harness will not work unless you buy a separate adapter to merge the power to the brake lamps and turn signals for the trailer.

SOURCE: need wire diagram to hook up trailer lights, truck not factory equipped w/harness,

I'm assuming you're just going to splice into the tail light wiring so that's what these wire colors are:
at the tail lamp 3 way connector:
black and yellow = park lamp
dark green and brown = left turn signal
there should be another connector with violet and black wire for reverse lights.
the stop lights are turned on through the turn signal circuits.

SOURCE: 2006 chevy trailblazer heater blower motor not working

You might wanna check and make sure the heater switch didn't go bad. It could even be the blower motor itself.

The color codes will be different so when you take the harness off the 95 make sure that you label ALL the connectors to make it easier to install it on your Blazer. You may also have to change some sensors or switches up to 95 so that the harness will fit. Label all the empty connectors with their location in the 95 because they will be for options that may or may not be on your Blazer. If you have to access a wire diagram to complete the job then use the 95. DON'T let someone else take the 95 harness out for you andtake a rough diagram of your truck with the plug-ins marked for location and # of pins for wires. Basically it should fit but attention to detail is a must.
Also check out faxonautoliterature. They list GM service manuals but also GM books for engine interchanges that may prove to be very helpful. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: trailer wiring

Have you checked the fuse box under the hood? There are seperate fuses for the truck lights and the trailer lights. If the fuses look good use a 12 volt test light to check for power on the turn signal pins when the brake is pushed. The brake lights and turn signals use the same wires to work. Power here would indicate the wiring and fuses on the truck is all good, meaning the trouble is on the trailer. Check the bulbs to be sure they are the correct ones, they should be dual element bulbs. Make sure you have a good ground on the trailer, usually the white wire in the 4 way plug is grounded to the trailer frame, do not depend on the trailer ball to be the ground, this is asking for trouble.

I have a2001 chevy blazer and the tag lights dont have power to them.Ihave check the fues and are good

If you have a trailer wired with trailer lights, may want to check where the trailer connector is wired into the rear harness. Could be a ground under there also

I have a 98 chevy tahoe. The #9 fuse keeps blowing.

Try disconnecting one feed wire at a time to see which circuit is shorted to the body/frame of your Tahoe. If you disconnect the trailer lights first and the fuse still works, look for the short circuit in this wiring. Auto electrical problems take time and patience to try everything, but one step at a time.

Brake Light wont go out

The brake lights stay on even when the vehicle has been restored to the "before" condition?!? Now that's strange. I'm assuming the brake lights worked properly before you did anything with the trailer hookup. Is that correct? Do the brake lights work OK when a trailer is hooked up to the trailer lighting harness? Regardless, if the brake lights stay on all the time, there is a continuous 12V to the bulbs to ground. You have a wiring short somewhere in the vehicle. Have you checked the wiring for bare spots (caused by rubbing) or cuts in the wires.

Since the brake lights won't turn off, you have created a continuous path of 12V through the bulbs to ground, regardless of the brake switch operation. If you did not use the plug in type of wiring harness to attach the "trailer plug", then I would systematically undo each wire that you attached to and see what fixes the problem. I assume you know that the Blazer has a trailer connection plug-in location tucked up under the rear bumper. You simply unplug the mating harnesses, plug in the trailer wiring connector, plug in the disconnected harnesses and wha-la you should be good to go.

Hope helps.

How to hook up the wiring on a 1997 chevy blazer for towing a trailer?

Hey how ya doin! underneath the rear of your blazer on the drivers side you will see some wiring running by the frame rail tword the back bumper. about 8 inches or so up the harness you will see a large clip holding it together. You just unhook this, go to your local auto store and buy the harness clip that clips inbetween these two connections. Poof instant trailer lights. The harness you need to buy is around 20 bucks and its a cinch to put in. Even if you dont quite understand what I am saying here, once you buy the piece and look under your blazer, you will see just what I am talking about. The only catch is the boughten harness only comes for the standard four point hook up. If you need the big round rv style plug you will have to adapt up to it. These adapters cost another 25 to 30 bucks. Hope this helps. Later, Clay

Yes it screws in on right side of tramission and you will need a 7/8 inch deep socket to remove it. You may be able to clean the old one once it is removed. There is a little ball thatgets dirty and may you can get by with cleaning it. Good Luck. Ed
