What you mean by “quit” do you get funny sounds when you steer? Give more details if you can of exactly what you experience. You may have blockages or air. Did you or anyone do any repairs? Try this start the car and turn the steering to the right as far as it allow you then do same to the left. Then check the power steering reservoir if low add more and do it again. See if you notice buble when you start the car and open the reservoir cap do you see bibles? big or small lots or few. That give you some idea of air in the system. Hope that some may help but without knowing exactly detail it will be gussing and that will not help you. God bless
Power steering is run from an accessory fan belt off the main engine pulley. Power steering has nothing to do with brakes. The belt may be slipping. Make sure that belt is tight. You should be able to push on stationary belt and get 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch deflection. Check the power steering level with engine running while it is warm.

Check to see if the power steering reservoir is full and the belt is intact.I'm assuming that you have a hydroboost unit where the p/s works the brake booster. If those are ok you could have a bad p/s pump

I believe you need your disk brake rotors turned to be true again or have them replaced. Whe you use your brakes a lot and kit puddles of cold water then it will warp the rotors which will cause the violent shaking. You may not feel it in the brake pedal even if it is warped rotors. If you don't think you have warped rotors then you should be very careful driving it because it will probably be in the steering sector arm or the idler arm on the steering shaft.

check power steering fluid. first. if all good . power steering is going. your hydro boost brake system depends on the power steering pump if it goes out your brake go out.

It sounds like you lost the power steering pump or belt. The brakes utilize pressure from the power steering pump via the hydro-boost. If it is the pump, and the belt is still intact, you will probably want to replace the belt as well.

the power steering lines are very short hoses approximately 8 inches long that go from the power steering pump down to the steering box, which is located on the frame, just below the pump. The brake lines run from the master cylinder(where you fill it with fluid on the drivers side firewall) down to the frame, and then follow the frame both directions; both to the front end and the rear end, along the drivers side frame rail, just on the inside of it. The fuel line runs along the same path to the rear.
