I have a 2004 Saab 9-3. Recently I drove out of town about 2 hour drive. Arriving on a speed bump at low speed(10mph) my car jurcked a little and the gearbox malfunction limited performance appeared on my dash. When I accelerated at the moment it seemed to force speed. I then parked turned off the car and turned back on. The same code showed only as I drove the car seemed to run normal. I drove in town for a week with no problem and returned home (2 hour drive) with no problem at 60mph. It’s been a month and car runs fine still, only the same code appears when turning on car. Took to mechanic and the code reads lock-up mechanical fault.. should I be concerned about this.. car seems to run fine. Any help or advice ?

SOURCE: Saab 9-5 Aero Wagon 2000 wont restart when warm or after running

I have a 1999 Saab 9-5. I had a similiar problem. The car would always run cold. It would get hot and the engine would quit. It could be anywhere. One mile from start to 50 miles from start. Once it cooled down it would re-start but the cool down time was always different. Only difference for me was my car would crank, just not run. Replaced the crank position sensor ($60), no more problems! Good luck!

Try cleaning the fuel pump filter. Under the seat behind the driver lift the carpet and you will find a round cover with six screws remove the cover. The fuel pump is directly below unscrew the retaining round plate and remove the pump. At the base of the pump is a small filter if it is covered in black muck that's your problem. clean and replace. job takes about 10 mins good luck. please let me know how you got on!

SOURCE: 2004 vw Passat TDI 130bhp not starting after >8hrs

simplest answer first, and this does not apply to a hot engine,The engine heaters work from a time switch on the door(would you believe)and the routine is, open door, climb in,put on belt, put key in ignition and turn on when orange light goes out.this allows the cold start heaters time to work(about 20 secs).sounds a pain but the number of times this has been all it is,when you put key in ignition, the fuel pump charges the system.hence the squirt noise, also the car has to reccognise the key(immobiliser system)also try using wynns/redexe to clean injectors...

Hi Buckbird, Take the vehicle for a diagnostic scan. The signal means that he on board diagnostics have picked up a fault! Maybe the transmission oil is low. Reduce speed advises you to get to your dealer or diagnostic center at a low gentle speed. Regards Johngee10

I have a Gearbox malfunction linited performance signal on my 2004 Saab 9-3 2.0 turbo and i'm wondering what may have cased this problem.

9 time out of 10 it is either (1) computer glitch; (2) the input speed sensor; (3) a wiring short; or (4) neutral safety switch. If your tranny operates fine even with the message (the message may disappear after a few starts), that means the problem is most likely with one of the above, rather than the tranny itself. Your car generates error codes that a Saab deal with a Tech 2 Scanner can read. That will pinppoint the error source. Good luck.

Saab 93 will not start

Hi

I have had this problem with my 2003 Saab 9-3 for a little while now. I would drive it to the shops or the gym and after an hour or so return to the car and it fails to start. The lights indicate all checks are OK but the car will not start, no sound, nothing. It then magically starts after 20 - 30 minutes. This normally happens during hot weather. Any advice is very much appreciated.

My SAAB 9-5 2.3 Automatic (V Reg) cuts out at low speed

Take a look at the accessories belt.... does the battery and/or check engine light's on? This belt activates water pump (check temperature gage...), power steering pump (heavy steering...), a/c compressor (a/c working?) and alternator (battery recharging)... of course!

Hope it will help you, even if my english isn't terrible...

Saab 93 - noisy when going over bumps on the road.

Have you tried driving over a bump whilst also applying the brakes? (Right foot on gas, left gently on brake - with no one behind you!) If the noise goes away, then it could be the brake pads that are not fitted correctly. Only posting this, as this just happened to mine...the mechanic took it over bumps and noise was there. Applied brakes whilst going over bump, noise went away. Replaced badly fitted rear pads (had been bodged by another garage) and the problem was solved.
