Question about Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

Hi, horn won't stop on my 2005 excursion V10 4WD. When I pull out the fuse, it will stop. I suspect the horn relay. Can you tell me where exactly is the horn relay located on my 05 Excursion V10 4WD?

It is not on the fuse pannel. That I know!

SOURCE: Where is the horn

in the passenger front fender , but he can locate a green with a pink strip wire in a bundle of wires on the fire wall and he can hook the positive wire of the airhorn to that and ground the - wire to the frame or battery and the air horn will work with the sterring wheel button.

SOURCE: location of horn on 2003 excursion

You have to remove the right front inner fender plastic liner to access the horns. To get to the bolt that holds them you have to remove the battery and tray.

SOURCE: need a lay oougt of fuse box for 2003 excursion

4wd shift motor, It is mounted to the transfer case. If it has not been used for a while the windings in the motor usually get stuck. Take a hammer and tap on the shift motor and then try to put you vehicle in 4wd. The shift motor kind of looks like a window motor just a little bigger. Sometimes you have to have someone move the selector as you tap on the motor, BUT BE VERY CAREFUL< DON"T GET YOURSELF RAN OVER> Let me know if this fixes your 4wd. Once you get it going it is always good to put your vehicle in 4wd a few times a year just to keep this 4wd motor going. Good Luck, Roger

SOURCE: horn does not sound

horn is under the hood. usually right against the grill or mounted on fender well. fuses for horn can be under the dash, or in fuse panel under the hood.

Replacing horn

That must be the horn relay. Is it a white cube with 4 terminals? I would pull off the horn pad from the steering wheel and check the horn operation from there. Maybe a metal strip has come out of place or got bent and making horn work by itself.

The car alarm won't go off. how do we stop it

If it is the horn, pull the horn fuse or relay. Does the vehicle start and drive, ok? Of course, pulling the fuse or relay isn't the proper fix. I'm just talking about killing the horn, where applicable.

Horn relay clicks but horn doesn't blow

Remove and replace the Horn Relay. There should be a Spare Relay of the same Type (Size and Shape). OR
Switch out the suspected Horn Relay with another Relay in the Fuse/Relay of the same Type (Size and Shape) that is known to currently work. After the switch check the operations of both the Horn and the function you switched out. If the Horn works and the other function doesn't work any longer: The Relay was bad and needs to be replaced.

Horn won't stop blowing

If you can locate and pull relay, do that, if not, pull wires off at horn if you can, otherwise pull fuse. If you have other relays same in area of horn relay (same number on relay) try one of them in that horn spot to see if maybe it's just a stuck relay. If you pull fuse for horn, you may find out something else on same fuse, so make sure you check everything else is working.
