02JeepGC dies while driving, idleing, turn over but not start
Replaced fuel pump w/module, filter, cam sensor. Dies while driving, idling, will sometimes refire immediately, sometimes will turn over and not start, go out in a few hours and fire immediately. getting very frustrated
Pretty sure you haven't tested anything...If a shop did that to you you'd be angry and rightfully so. Get yourself a manual...chilton and haynes have fairly decent test procedures that if followed will likely give you better results. Do your testing when in "no start" otherwise your readings will not reveal a failure.Pretty sure you haven't tested anything...If a shop did that to you you'd be angry and rightfully so. remove and clean the idle sensor valve. pull out and clean the PCV valve (on top of the valve cover).blow out (from the inside) the air filter. do not apply gas until after your vehicle starts.
A long list of things. Is the check engine light on when you are driving ? Have you checked the fuel pressure after replacing the pump ? Have you checked the throttle position sensor ?
This looks very like either the crank sensor or cam sensor is faulty. The are OK when cold but as they warm up everything expands just that little bit and if there is a break in the wiring inside them then a gap opens up and it dies. When it cools down things contract back again the gap closes the break reconnects and it works again. If it is possible put straightened out paper clips (called 'back probing') into the back of the wires at the sockets to these devices and then use a voltmeter to detect the voltages on them. Check when cold and then every few minutes as the engine warms at idle. One of the sensors will begin to reduce voltage as it gets warm, this is the faulty one that needs changing.
only half way there if you have a tbi check the crank sensor/ cam sensor that is the first line of business on that truck if the crankshaft sensor fails the truck stops dead when you wait a few minutes the sensor re energizes and the truck will work again for a bit antiknock can cause similer problems but not while the truck is running
I had to replace the mass air flow sensor. $ 150. the engine would shut off when driving too.changed fuel filter only worked for a day. The sensor is just after air filter.
HI, your assessment is correct. this is a fuel filter and pump issue. i would also add a fuel injector cleaner after the replacement of the fuel pump and filter. this will scrub the fuel system and clean any debris that may exist at this point. Techtron injector cleaner is the best solution when cleaning the injector system.
I would also inspect the spark plug wires for faults as well. make sure they are fitted tightly over the plugs.
