Take off the wheel well shroud. Firdt remove the front right wheel, it will be easier. Then remove the two screws holding in the tank. Remove the two electrical connectons and small rubber hose. Next (or first) grab the filler tube and twist while pulling it from the tank as it is held in by a rubber gromet. Then pull the tank forward and let it drop down. Nothing else is holding it in except the two screws. Removing the filler tube is a must!

The best and easyest way is to take it out and wash it out with vinagar and hot water. There should only be three bolts holding it in so it is very easy to remove.
