SOURCE: Gearbox fault of Jaguar S Type

unfortunately when that code, and that gear box fault light comes on, its pretty much game over for the transmission. It only a matter of time before performance of the transmission gets worse and worse. BUT that transmission is VERY easy to replace, i would check out a few trustworthy independent shops to give you a better price! I am usually a die-hard dealership, having been working at this jaguar land rover dealership for the last 2 years, but you are pretty much for sure going to be a cheaper price on the labor and like i said it is a pretty easy task.

My only precaution MAKE SURE IF YOU GETTING A USED TRANSMISSION THAT YOU GET SOME TYPE OF WARRANTY ON IT. Too many times have I seen customers loose thousands of dollars paying someone to put a used engine or transmission and have it fail almost right away.

SOURCE: 2000 Jaguar S-Type 4.0 will not start...

it is your electronic control module which is the BRAIN of the car and this is a computer which runs the entire car and it is offline it may need to be reflashed by a mechanic shop with the proper software through a laptop. Electrical problem is what it is. get a diagnostic scan performed on it ok?

SOURCE: x-type jaguar automatic (gear box fault)

I have a 2002 X type (2 litre. done 44000 miles), dash showed gear box problem, (red circle light up). I pulled out and turned the engine off. 5 minutes later turned the engine on. The engine running but the car would not drive either in drive or reverse. Turned the engine off again and on the car driving but not much power. The care is taken to the Jag. dealer and told is misfiring + some gear box faults. Suggesting to change some coils and see (cost about £200+). also possible need to change the gear box costing about £2500+. Please advice. Shall I go ahead with the repair? Should I part exchange.

My xj8 Jaguar crank up and sets right back off what all could be wrong

Security is set. Could be one problem. Fuel system can do this, but rarely. Takes a scanner to see where to look first.

4.0 S TYPE CRANKS WON'T START

The first thing i would check would be the fuel pressure, the gas being sold now a days eats away at the fuel pump and makes varnish build up in pump causing the pump to go bad.

A fuel pressure gauge is needed for this test, it connects to the fuel rail and give you a reading and i would bet there is no or very very low pressure.

2003 jaguar s type starts ok but dies, Could it be the fuel filter is clogged?

Its possible, but I would also expect to find a faulty relay or other electrical problem.

How to know timing is off on a 2000 jag s-type

Timing can be tricky on any vehicle. Most times they all show the same characteristics. It's been my experience that when timing is off one of two things will take place. Either the vehicle will turn over and over and over (meaning the engine) but won't start or if it does start in will run really rough instead of smoothly. If your Jag s-type is running roughly it doesn't necessarily mean the timing is off. could be bad spark plugs, wires, coil packs, or could even be a fuel related problem. I would go with the cheapest solution first and if that doesn't fix it I would work my way through the other mentioned issues working toward the more expensive as a last resort.

Where is #2 cylinder on 2000 jaguar s type 4.0?And what is code p0302

I recently starting having this problem also (only code p0305/308). That code means "miss-fire" on #2 cylinder. The #2 cylinder is the nearest cylinder on the right (closest to front of car on drivers side) if you are standing in the front of the car.

Cold start

Obviously a sensor feeding wrong info to computer for cold start/running. Will save money in long run if you have it scanned for free at auozone, or PEP boys.
