Your year of bettle and all the dubs like yours burn to the ground on a regular basis from fuel leaks, yes it is very serious!! Don't drive it until you fix the leak.

when you try starting the car look at the gauge cluster, you will most likely see a small emblem light up that has a picture of a key in it. that is the immobilizer light and the problem is it doesn't recognize the key as it's own so it won't start thinking it is being stolen. try all the keys you have if none of them will work and all set that light off it will have to be towed into your local dealer to have it all recoded.
